Would love to hear opinions on this name.

Do you think this stands well alone as a given name? I know is a short form of Sarah, but I'm not keen on Sarah at all.

The Sadies I know are all actually Sarah

It's not always a NN - my granny was called Sadie as her given name, not a NN.

I don't know if the name is therefore inextricably linked in with slavery for African American women, but I would be wary about using it just in case given the song's inference.

I do love the name and it was on our short list for a girl...however (did you know there would be one), in our area we have a lady who advertises on the back of buses etc called Sadie the Bra Lady !
