Ophelia... LOVE IT!

Unfortunately it doesn't go with my surname otherwise it would be top of my list!

Indith · 01/04/2010 15:27

All lovely! I think I prefer Seraphina just because of Ophelia being a fruit loop and quite a tragic character and Tatiana because it is so Russian and I have met a few "intersting" Tatianas so that is just a personal thing that influences how I see it.

LadyCressida · 01/04/2010 15:27

I like Seraphina - never heard of anyone called it though.

Like Ophelia too (my cousin has just pinched it for her daughter!)

arsesandoldlace · 01/04/2010 15:31

I like Ophelia but think of the teenage years - boys making jokes about "Ophelia tits" etc etc.

The other names are also very pretty, prefer Seraphina slightly.

Tillyscoutsmum · 01/04/2010 15:31

I love Separphina and Ophelia. Like the potential nicknames. Not so keen on Tatiana

Lonnie · 01/04/2010 15:47

Seraphina was on our shortlist for dd3 but she didnt feel like a girl with such a long name (so we named her Aoife)

I love Ophelia

less keen on Tatiana but still like it

diddl · 01/04/2010 15:58

Ophelia

BitOfFun · 01/04/2010 16:02

Tatiana is pretty, but unfortunately reminds me of a Russian fake-lesbian pop duo. Seraphina seems a bit try-hard. And Ophelia is a tragic basket-case. So although ALL the names are very pretty indeed, I just couldn't get past the associations.

lifesucks · 01/04/2010 16:05

ophelia.its my dd2's middle name.

chimpsmostwelcome · 01/04/2010 16:12

we know a girl called Ophelia, and she shortens her name to 'Offy'

Magaly · 01/04/2010 16:41

i prefer none of those. all awful

Ineedsomesleep · 01/04/2010 16:47

Seraphina. Really wanted it for DD but it was another name that DH vetoed

Where we live 'Offy' is short for Off Licence - perhaps not a great nickname for a little girl? I prefer Seraphina.

They're all really pretty.

The only thing with Ophelia is that I can't shake the Hamlet connection. Love Tatiana (knew a lovely girl called Tatiana who was called Tatty) and Seraphina is very pretty - although would probably be called Sarah - which is nice, but nothing special. Although maybe you could call her Phia?

StrictlyKatty · 01/04/2010 18:21

I prefer Ophelia.

Tatiana is a Russian name and would sound odd with a none Russian surname imo.

Seraphina I don't like at all.

chimpsmostwelcome · 01/04/2010 18:26

I love Tatty! Never heard of anyone called that, but love it straight away.

madly · 01/04/2010 19:49

All great names though my favourite is Tatiana

pitterpatterfeet · 01/04/2010 19:57

Definitely Ophelia or Seraphina. I think people would assume Russian/Eastern European if you went with Tatiana.

ChippingIn · 01/04/2010 20:16

Personally wouldn't choose any of those.

JoeyBettany · 01/04/2010 20:19

Seraphina, pretty but IKWYM re: barbie connections- bit much for an adult woman?

What about Serena?

stressheaderic · 01/04/2010 20:54

Sometimes I wonder what the hell I'm doing on Mumsnet....
I know of nobody with these names, as I live in an area populated with Connors and Ellie-Maes...
I'll stick around though, as it's good fun.
Oh, and Ophelia for me.

Magaly · 02/04/2010 08:41

Similar story here. If you introduced your child as Serapahina 'round here, people might think you were a orphan being cared for by the nuns..

In its favour though, it can be shortened to Sera / Sara in an emergency. eg summer jobs etc

AllieW · 02/04/2010 11:14

Seraphina and Ophelia are my favourites. I suspect Seraphina just gets it because, if Mumsnet is anything to go by, there are a few people thinking of Ophelia atm.
