Guessed Isla would be popular in Scotland but we are all the way down in Surrey so hoping not so.

Marcie - sounds American and a bit mddle-aged
Elsie - not keen
Isla or Ayla - Isla is very pretty, who cares if it's popular
Alicia - nice, also Alyssa
Lila - not keen, prefer Layla or Lola, or even Leila
Zoe - really not keen!

mathanxiety · 27/03/2010 16:58

Marcie -- reminds me of Charlie Brown
Elsie -- tweeeee, too popular, and will blend into all the Ellas and Ellies out there
Isla or Ayla -- love both
Alicia -- love
Lila -- like a lot
Zoe -- FABULOUS

MrsMattie · 27/03/2010 17:17

Marcy is a great name.

vidia · 27/03/2010 17:44

I like Zoe and Alicia best and then Isla (with that spelling).

Elsie is a bit old ladyish for me.

Marcie is possibly more popular in America, it is a nice name. Is is a nickname for Marcia?

Lila - I think a celeb's baby is called that. Can't remember who, don't think it is a great name anyway.

theagedparent · 27/03/2010 17:46

Elsie is the nicest on your list

makeitadouble · 27/03/2010 18:03

Zoe is lovely and you don't hear it much these days.

Tillyscoutsmum · 27/03/2010 18:08

Elsie is my favourite on your list. Isla is getting popular here in West Mids as well.

bebejones · 27/03/2010 18:16

I think Elsie is the nicest on your short list & sounds nice with Carter. I first read it as Elise (must put glasses on) and actually really like that too. And also Elissa.

I am very south of Scotland & Isla is popular here too. As are Ava & Evie at the moment.

Ayla is Hebrew, a variant of Ayala, means 'deer' or 'gazelle' -- v. nice.

April80 · 29/03/2010 13:01

Thanks for posts everyone!
DH has now said no to Zoe but really likes Isla as do I. The only one I know is in her 30's, is it really that popular?
Up untill last week she would have been Marcie but i'm just not 100% on it. Think Isla is the front runner at the mo!

The only Isla I have heard of is Isla St Clair from The Generation Game.
