Posted a boy's shortlist a couple of days ago. Now for the girls. I know some of them may not be popular on here so I don't mind negative feedback!

Laurel
Marin
Cassia
Daphne
Oriel/ Orielle
Natalia
Cosette

Opinions please...

My favourites from your list are Laurel, Cassia, Daphne and Natalia.

Prinpo · 26/03/2010 23:38

Love Oriel, like Cossette, not so keen on the others. Oriel is really beautiful, actually. May put it on my shortlist (if I ever manage to get pregnant with number 3!).

Rival28 · 27/03/2010 00:24

From your list I prefer natalia

sleepyhead3 · 27/03/2010 10:39

Anybody else got a minute to add an opinion on my names?

OP posts:
BessieBoots · 27/03/2010 10:48

Laurel- and Hardy
Marin- Unusual, I quite like it.
Cassia- Loooooovely
Daphne- I am a weirdo that relates this to a character off Neighbours about 20 years ago- ignore me...
Oriel/ Orielle- Oriel means "exhibition" in Welsh, so that's what pops into my head!
Natalia- Pretty, supermodelish name.
Cosette- Is this a make of prams? (not being facetious, it's a genuine question.)

Runoutofideas · 27/03/2010 11:24

Love Cassia and Natalia. LIke Oriel although I know someone who spells it Auriol - I think your way is proably prettier.

sleepyhead3 · 27/03/2010 12:45

Bessie- I've never heard of Cosette prams!

OP posts:
Prinpo · 27/03/2010 12:46

Isn't there a make of prams called Cossato? Cossette is the name of the little girl in Les Miserables.

theagedparent · 27/03/2010 12:47

Love Daphne but not so keen on the others

BessieBoots · 27/03/2010 15:36

Ah yes, sorry, my mistake.

(I'm the one who once referred to Durex paint)

yama · 27/03/2010 15:41

I like Natalia and Laurel.

Oriel reminds me of Ariel if I'm honest.

Marin is okay but I prefer Mirren.

Haven't heard of Cosette or Cassia.

Daphne - Neighbours.

mathanxiety · 27/03/2010 17:03

Laurel -- LOVE
Marin -- like a lot, also love Maris (Stella Maris = Star of the Sea) and Marit (Norwegian Margaret)
Cassia -- LOVE, also love Keziah
Daphne -- LOVE
Oriel/ Orielle -- Don't like as much as your other names
Natalia -- LOVE
Cosette -- Like a lot, also like Colette

I love your taste, so I'm no help at all.

sassysass · 27/03/2010 17:04

Daphne is a great name and you're unlikely to meet another (young) Daphne!

SoupDragon · 27/03/2010 17:06

Um.. I don't like any of them.

MamaLazarou · 27/03/2010 17:23

They are all lovely names.

piscesmoon · 27/03/2010 17:38

Hate them all! If you change it to Natalie it is better.

nighbynight · 27/03/2010 18:11

Cosettte is definitely a pram, I like the others.

sleepyhead3 · 27/03/2010 20:55

It's really great to have that feedback.

Maybe Cosette is a pram after all (will have to check) but I think of Les Miserables- it just sounds pretty and French to me!

Mathanxiety- I really like Marit and Maris too. We seem to have similar taste. Just being nosey and please don't answer if you don't want to but what are your DC(s) names?

OP posts:
nighbynight · 27/03/2010 21:38

actually, I have just thought. Oriel is an Oxford college, and also a window (?).
(not that bad though?)
Is Auriel a girls name, or is it only Auriela?

sleepyhead3 · 27/03/2010 23:22

Yes, Oriel is an Oxford college.
I think Oriel/ Auriel/ Aurelia, etc are all variations on the same name.

OP posts:
loobylu3 · 28/03/2010 12:27

Out of those names, I love these:

Cassia
Daphne
Natalia

I like all the others, though less sure about Cosette.

minipie · 29/03/2010 11:05

Laurel - Like, though for some reason I would expect it to be a boy
Marin - Like
Cassia - Not keen
Daphne - Bit frumpy to me
Oriel/ Orielle - Pretty, but says Oxford college to me. Prefer Oriel
Natalia - Like
Cosette - Too frilly/cutesy for me.

I'd go for Marin or Natalia

sleepyhead3 · 29/03/2010 14:48

Well, so far Natalia is the mumsnet favourite but the others are fairly even other than Cosette perhaps!
With the boy's list, the differences were a bit more obvious!

OP posts:
MinnieMalone · 29/03/2010 14:52

Laurel - sweet. I know a little girl with ths name and it makes me like it even more.
Marin - no. Harsh sounding.
Cassia - nice, feminine without being too girly girly
Daphne - dreadful
Oriel/lle - OK, prefer Ariel
Natalia - prefer Thalia
Cosette - beyond awful. Just NO NO NO.
