Indigo - cool for a boy or way to pretentious...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Shaz10 · 24/03/2010 15:02

Do you expect him to be psychic?

Crapweasel · 24/03/2010 15:04

Sorry, I really don't like.

Inigo is a "proper" boys name (though poss open to the pretentious accusation).

Jamieandhismagictorch · 24/03/2010 15:05

I think you can just about get away with it for a girl, but not for a boy

thighsmadeofcheddar · 24/03/2010 15:06

I say pretentious. Sorry.

DebiNewberry · 24/03/2010 15:06

I prefer Inigo, Indigo makes me think of Shaz' link ^

notsoteenagemum · 24/03/2010 15:19

i think I quite like it actually.

gmtbst · 24/03/2010 15:21

Pretentious, sorry.

Rhian82 · 24/03/2010 15:21

Way too pretentious, sorry.

GetOrfMoiLand · 24/03/2010 15:28

It's a stupid name.

Anyway I had a Rainbow Brite doll (remember them?) when I was a kid, and she was a girl, so if you were going to use it imo it's a girl's name anyway.

Inigo however is a lovely name and on my fantasty baby name list. Or, Inaki, which iirc is the Basque version of the same.

lucy567 · 24/03/2010 17:13

I know a girl and a boy with this name, I prefer it as a girls name. Just does not seem right for a boy.

Hullygully · 24/03/2010 17:14

Indignation is better for a boy.

OtterInaSkoda · 24/03/2010 17:48

I like it. I like it a lot actually.

Having said that I live in the kind of area where nobody would bat an eyelid at it.

yellowcircle · 24/03/2010 17:51

This is a terrible name for a boy.

It would be better on a girl, but even then, very strange IMO.

Indigo is a nice colour and a nice word. It is not really suitable to be a name.

Shaz10 · 24/03/2010 18:08

I know an Indigo. But the family are into new age things, they're probably hoping she'll be a real indigo child!

like it - i like unusual names - if u like it go for it

Quattrocento · 24/03/2010 21:10

Don't be ridiculous. The only good thing about Indigo as a name for a boy is that it's better than Violet

What about Inigo? At least that's a name ...

mathanxiety · 24/03/2010 21:33

How about Ignatius?

winstonstimpson · 24/03/2010 21:35

Sorry not keen - If I met an Indigo I would assume that his parents had meant Inigo but had got the name wrong. It is too similar to an existing but obscure name if you see what I mean.

SpeedyGonzalez · 24/03/2010 21:38

Very pretentious. Then he'll start school and come back home on day 1 to announce that his name is now Edward.

missjm · 24/03/2010 21:49

i like the name, thinks its a girls name rather than boys tho

pixierara · 24/03/2010 21:53

I would actually say this is a girls name..how about jago....

NigellaTufnel · 24/03/2010 21:59

No! V pretentious.

Although I said no on another thread, saying that he would get picked on, and was shouted down.

Please think about him introducing himself at Scouts/ University/ the Navy / as an accountant.

jkklpu · 24/03/2010 22:01

awful
you might as well go for Crimson or Khaki
