Rosalie is lovely as a first name - not so great I'd imagine when you have to keeep correcting people who think you have only given your first name when you've actually said your whole name

Good point. You need a self-contained name ending with a consonant like Juliet, Harriet or Rhiannon.

Yes because they don't end in a vowel sound.

I think Charlotte Leigh works well but am not so sure about Lottie Leigh or Charlie Leigh if you end up with either as a nickname. George Leigh is fine unless it would worry you that it may sound a bit like Georgie...

Personally I don't think George would be problematic unless it was something that would annoy you.

Charlotte may well have different ideas about using her full name when she gives both names so if being asked if you're Charlie Leigh's mum is going to bother you in the future then I'd steer clear.

My mother cringes whenever my youngest brother, Oliver, uses Ollie professionally... she loves the name they chose for him and it had never crossed her mind (25+ years ago) that he'd go by Ollie Surname as an adult!

Yep, I think that's what Mum thinks too. Interestingly she's quite happy with my other brother going by his shortened version!

Perhaps you need a name that has no obvious shortening or else one with short versions that you're happy with and work with your surname.

Kate, Claire, Anne, Sarah, Rachel, Iris, Ruth, Beth, Edith (although Edie is an obvious nn), Faith, Naomi, Hannah, Anna, Ruby, Zara and Phoebe are some I can think of off the top of my head.

Names that have a 'proper' end sound to them would prevent them from running into Leigh e.g. Imogen (nn Mo or Jen/Jenny), Miriam (nn Mim or Miri) or Harriet (nn Harrie/Hattie).

However, if Charlotte is the name you love then go for it and call her Charlotte for as long as you can - I went to school with a Charlotte who's never answered to anything else!

Charlotte is lovely and I know plenty who have never been known as Charlies.
I love the name George too.
