Boys name - Arlo ?

Hello all!

Hoping you can help!

Having name dilemma's with baby No.2

If we were having a girl we had settled on Olivia Luisa (Livvy for short) but we are struggling for a boy.

Loved Milo until husband binned it due to Tweenies, film star kittens and Chocolate Milk connections...

Our 19month son is called Finlay.

We are really liking Arlo (we live in Brighton so hopefully wont get "Harlow? like in Essex..)

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks, M

I love it. Think it goes well with Finlay too.
I do have a couple of friends who have boys (post tweenies) called Milo and they don't get any grief. And my son's name is the same as a purple dinosaur and other than a mean comment from SIL and BIL, nobody has ever compared him to a purple dinosaur!

sassysass · 09/03/2010 12:31

I do love both Arlo and Milo and they go well with Finlay. I'd find it hard to choose between the two.

I do prefer Hugo from the -o names though.

Northumberlandlass · 09/03/2010 12:32

I love it. x

ilovemydogandmrobama · 09/03/2010 12:32

Love it! Arlo Guthrie is a favorite in the ilovemydog house

Blu · 09/03/2010 12:34

Arlo is a most excellent name.

BlueChampagne · 09/03/2010 13:32

Good choice

diddl · 09/03/2010 13:45

Like both Arlo & Milo.
Prehaps prefer Milo tbh.
Also like Jethro.

welshandproud · 09/03/2010 13:46

Fab name, love it. Arlo Guthrie sang Alice's restaurant, what a song.

Goes well with Finlay. Livvy beautiful too.

audley · 09/03/2010 13:47

I also have a purple dinosaur son and have had no negative comments! I had Milo on our shortlist too. I like Arlo in principle but always think of a vaguely rhyming rude phrase when I hear it. I think I'd get over it if I met an Arlo in RL though. So a great name, just not one I could use, I would prefer Milo.

NotSoRampantRabbit · 09/03/2010 13:49

First true love at school called Arlo.

He was very handsome and terribly cool.

Well endowed too if that's a consideration.

amber1979 · 09/03/2010 13:54

sounds like a brand of washing powder to me.

CaptainNancy · 09/03/2010 13:54

Love it! Wanted it for DS but was vetoed.
I like Milo too though.

Lionstar · 09/03/2010 13:56

Please stop bringing Arlo up on threads - don't want it to get too popular

crankytwanky · 09/03/2010 13:59

There have been a few recently, haven't there Lionstar!

MadreInglese · 09/03/2010 14:01

I met someone the other day who has an Arlo, really like it

Fourleaf · 09/03/2010 14:11

Personally I'm not keen - it really reminds me of someone saying Harlow and leaving off the H. And I'm not from Essex. Prefer Milo. Hugo and Jethro nice too.

mathanxiety · 09/03/2010 19:21

Love Arlo, also Ivo, Enzo and Ezra.

MariaLupita · 09/03/2010 23:36

Thank you everyone for all your feedback - Sorry Lionstar for putting Arlo in the spotlight again! - still torn between the two names but great to see such positive reactions to both names (expected more people to balk at them!). Some very funny feedback too- cheers! X
