Need advice on including late fathers nickname

My late Fathers nickname was Bim. He was never called by anything else as he disliked his first name. Bim was a childhood nickname which stuck throughout the whole of his life, even at work.

I think we've pretty much decided on George Robert as a name, Robert being dh's grandad. I would like to include Bim after Robert. We wouldn't tell anyone as it's quite strange but I would like it on the BC.

Would like opinions and appreciate honesty if this a daft idea! (dh is ok with it btw)

If DH is ok with it, and you want it, then what's the problem?

I think it is a lovely idea - can't think of any reason not to do it.

I don't think it's a daft idea - it's a nice nod to your father IMO.
I think it sounds nice and plenty of people have 3 middle names, often a surname as a middle name in memory of someone important to them so I can't see this is any different.
(Love George Robert too, btw)

it's not THAT strange... just make sure the registrar can spell

Lovely idea, v.personal. Your ds can choose to use it or drop it if he thinks it' to "out there" (I don't BTW). Go for it!

It a fine idea. The other option might be to use your father's surname as a middle name.

Thanks everyone, was a bit worried hormones were to blame for giving me crazy ideas!

Would you tell people, other than close relatives or keep it as a personal thing?

Loving the thought of a Baby Bim!! How marevllous for him to have a special bit of Dad. Absolutely go for it - magic!!!!

Great idea!

My grandfather was called William John, but EVERYONE called him Jack. We used Jack as our DS's middle name as we wanted to use his grandfather's name and it made more sense to us to use that than William which I had never heard him called.
