I like both.

TrillianAstra · 02/03/2010 10:14

As a name I prefer Christian, but I have worked with a lot of Germans. It is open to more teasing opportunities (as are all names that are also words), but you can shorten it to the very "normal" Chris.

AnnieLobeseder · 02/03/2010 10:15

Tristan

Names with blatant religious messages are never a good idea in my book. What if he converts to buddhism?

LostArtOfKeepingASecret · 02/03/2010 10:19

I prefer Christian as a full name and Tris as a NN. Not very helpful, I'm I?

Pineapplechunks · 02/03/2010 10:19

Deffo Tristan. It's top of my list if DC2 is a boy.

Christian is OK but the obvious link to Christianity puts me off because we are in no way religious.

BrigitteBardot · 02/03/2010 10:20

Tristan here too. I don't like Christian.

dizzydixies · 02/03/2010 10:29

I don't like either sorry

Kyrie · 02/03/2010 10:52

I really like them both but I wouldn't go for Christian because of the religious link.

Tristan is a really lovely name.

GrimmaTheNome · 02/03/2010 11:05

Christian definite no-no.

Tristan I got fond of because of James Herriot.

shoobidoo · 02/03/2010 11:21

Tristan reminds me of triste (sad) and Tristan & Isolde (also sad), so I really don't like it.

Christian is nice and Chris a nice nickname.

AllieW · 02/03/2010 20:08

I like them both, but out of the two would go for Tristan since you have no clue what his religious affiliation will end up being.

Another similar name which you might consider is Tristram (although I do prefer Tristan).

janeite · 02/03/2010 20:14

I like both but Tristan pips it for me due to religion-thing.

LetThemEatCake · 03/03/2010 18:43

I like both. Also Tristram. Not that you asked

Smilehighclub · 03/03/2010 18:45

I met a really dishy Tristan yesterday. Helpful?

zozzle · 03/03/2010 18:46

Both v nice.

But I think you can only get away with Christian if you are, in fact, practising Christians otherwise why else would you chose a name with such an obvious link.

Smilehighclub · 03/03/2010 18:46

hate 'chris' btw.

msrisotto · 03/03/2010 18:48

I love them both. Christian has never been linked to the religion for me as i've known someone called Christian since forever, anyway, that's my favourite.

JeMeSouviens · 03/03/2010 18:49

I dislike both

foreverastudent · 03/03/2010 19:41

i like both

mathanxiety · 03/03/2010 19:45

Both meh.

lisa34 · 03/03/2010 20:08

Hi i wanted to call my ds christian but hubby hated it so we decided on Christopher

SilverSky · 03/03/2010 20:11

Both not for me......

RHL · 05/03/2010 21:27

Shame Tristan means sadness and that Christian is so religious. Both good sounds...Krystian?

PinkKumquat · 05/03/2010 21:31

I don't like either.

chardom · 05/03/2010 22:30

Tristan was top of my list for DS and I love now even though he is 11 now! Hubby wouddn't let me use it for our DS who is Dominic instead which I like now, eventually!
