TabithaSmith · 28/02/2010 13:01

Clarice - OK.

Klarise - NO.

PestoMonster · 28/02/2010 13:01

Nooooooooooooooooooooo

AnnieBeansMum · 28/02/2010 13:01

As long as you spell it correctly (Clarice) it's ok.

Heated · 28/02/2010 13:05

If you, or rather she, can live with the sound effects and references to fava beans...

Bucharest · 28/02/2010 13:50
Shock
janeite · 28/02/2010 13:51

No. But I used to teach a nice Clarissa.

janeite · 28/02/2010 13:52

Tries to think of a nice name beginning with K. Is there one?

ShowOfHands · 28/02/2010 13:54

It looks an awful lot like you got nearly to the end of your op and fell on the keyboard.

Bucharest · 28/02/2010 13:54

Katharine.

And, erm.......

ShowOfHands · 28/02/2010 13:55

janeite, the name you are looking for is Katharine.

MrsCadwallader · 28/02/2010 13:55

Katy!

Don't like Klarise or Clarice, sorry!

ShowOfHands · 28/02/2010 13:55

Uncanny x-posts.

We're right though. That's the one.

Bucharest · 28/02/2010 13:56

at ShowOfHands.

Thanks guys I probably shouldn't have asked. Just that we adopted dd and can't change her name. I want to start calling her Cerys as it sounds similar but nicer. DH says no as her identity is now fixed. He is right but I'm finding this name so hard to live with.

Nevergoogledragonbutter · 28/02/2010 14:03

LMAO
good one.

Nevergoogledragonbutter · 28/02/2010 14:04

How old is DD?

MrsCadwallader · 28/02/2010 14:08

Can you shorten it to 'Klarrie'? (thinking of the Archers!) Sounds nicer IMO.

IWillNotNeverEatATomato · 28/02/2010 14:12

It really reminds me of when Hannibal Lecter says it in Silence of the Lambs, which is really creepy

(Jodie Foster's character was called Clarice)

seeker · 28/02/2010 14:12

How old is she? How about shortening it to Rissa if she's still little?

janeite · 28/02/2010 14:15

Katherine - yes, that is nice.

What about Elise? Or Lisey?

dolphin13 · 28/02/2010 14:16

She's 3. Social workers are against change and I do understand their reasons but I think she will be teased. And call me a snob but the wrong spelling sounds chavvy to me.

OP posts:
seeker · 28/02/2010 14:17

Do go for Rissa - I think it's lovely!

IWillNotNeverEatATomato · 28/02/2010 14:19

Surely at 3 she wouldn't really notice if you changed the spelling of her name, but it was still pronounced the same,
unless she is mega advanced and is reading already,

DH and I heading for a row as I am relaying your comments and he is determined no change. He doesn't like the name but says it is her. Do think we will change the spelling though
