Lara Croft is what I think when I hear it. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing...

(btw... Is it wrong to be jealous of a character in a computer game?)

Maria2007loveshersleep · 27/02/2010 21:22

Yes I quite like it. Not too overused & pretty.

yellowcircle · 27/02/2010 21:23

I really like it. Again, I do think of Lara Croft, but that's not a bad thing.

Maria2007loveshersleep · 27/02/2010 21:24

Brings to mind dr zhivago & julie christie which is of course a good thing

somanyboyssolittletime · 27/02/2010 21:26

Just had a baby girl and Lara was my fave name - unfortunately DH not so keen, but seemed quite popular when mentioned to other mums! It's just so pretty and unusual.

Vulgar · 27/02/2010 21:31

Yes - my fave name. go for it.

katiepotatie · 27/02/2010 21:41

I like it, reminds me of Dr Zhivago too

I love it! Again, says snowswept steppes, troikas, balalaikas and Julie Christie to me. And a gorgeous theme tune. In fact, if I have a girl that's what I'll call her....

mathanxiety · 27/02/2010 21:49

Love it to bits. I think it's going to become a very popular alternative to both Laura and Clara. I love Laurel too.

cece · 27/02/2010 21:54

I rather like it.

dogstar · 27/02/2010 21:57

Love it. Cool and classy - imo.

darksideofthemooncup · 27/02/2010 22:01

Love it, unfortunately it wouldn't go with our surname or it would have been an option for dd. Go for it!

getawiggleon · 27/02/2010 22:05

Love it! Top of my list if I ever have another girl.

weepootle · 27/02/2010 22:09

I really like it. I didn't think of Lara Croft when I saw it, thought of a lovely little Irish girl we met on holiday called Lara.

menomena · 27/02/2010 22:13

Thanks everyone! Mentioned it to a couple of people and got mixed reactions, but I think it's really pretty. Glad to see I'm not the only one who loves it and will definitely keep it in the running

It's really nice, very cool and grown up.

It does make me think that her dad is computer geek smitten with Lara Croft which detracts a little bit but still a nice name.

houseworkhater · 27/02/2010 22:16

Reminds me of Lara Croft too.

ReneRusso · 27/02/2010 22:17

It's lovely, I couldn't have it for my DDs because of a bit of personal history, but it's lovely.

mathanxiety · 27/02/2010 23:39

Reminds me of the lovely village of Laragh, near Glendalough in Co. Wicklow in Ireland.

KAEKAE · 02/03/2010 20:58

I can't stand it, its harsh IMO. I know a four year old with this name.

paisleyleaf · 02/03/2010 21:05

I really like it.
There are 2 Lara's in dd's class - but I think that must be some sort of fluke as it's not that common at the moment is it?

jellybeans · 02/03/2010 21:12

Love it

peachylovesherpoochy · 02/03/2010 21:22

Love it but we couldn't use it because with our surname it was a character in a Jackie Collins book (trash reading emoticon)

AllieW · 03/03/2010 19:22

I associate it with Lara Croft as others do, but that would make me discount it since, with graphic novel reading husband, folk might think we'd named a girl AFTER her instead of just liking the name.
