So, channeling Fenella Fudge from Radio 2, I think I might fancy an alliterative name for my possible daughter. (I'm pretty sure it's a gal.)

I quite like, um, unusual names. So the kind of thing most MNers hate.

Cheers!

I used to read Jean Plaidy books when I was about 12 & always wanted to call my daughter Fiametta- apparently she was a mistress of Pope Alexander VI, father of Lucrezia Borgia.

StantonLacy · 27/02/2010 21:36

Fiammetta ? My DH was desperate for us to have this as our DDs middle name. I do like it, but...the only time I have ever heard it used was as the main character in " In the company of the Courtesan" ..wasn't sure if I wanted to explain that one to DD when she grew up ! Pretty though !

mumoftoomany · 27/02/2010 21:39

Fabian is a boys name (and a very common one in Germany), but Fabienne or Fabiana are feminine versions.

Spacehoppa · 27/02/2010 21:39

Foxtrot ?

crankytwanky · 27/02/2010 21:39

I think DH would veto most of the Scandi & Welsh ones.

Could I use Fabian for a boy do you think, if it turns out to be a fella?

My favourite F name is Fyfa, but DP won't agree on the alliteration and apparently it was the name of a rabbit in Watership Down.

Please use it

Frances is a fab name - lots of nice abbreviations for a little one, but a proper strong grown-up name for a woman later

How about Fleur

crankytwanky · 28/02/2010 18:02

OK, so I suggested Fabia to DH & his sis who was here today and they both said "Labia" in unison!

We all like Fleur.
