Iris or Daisy?

Which is more classy and sophisticated?

DH has his eyes on one and me the other..

Love Iris!

LittlePushka · 01/03/2010 23:06

Daisy only a little girls name IMHO.

Cannot imagine taking a grown up Daisy very seriosly,...would always want to say "Aahh,..how cute"

ChynaDoll2006 · 02/03/2010 09:18

Hate both of them. Especially Iris.

henry37 · 02/03/2010 10:06

both nice just have different feel to them.

sassysass · 02/03/2010 10:46

Thanks.

Daisy is my fave and Iris DH's. I can see that there are pros and cons to both. Daisy cutesy but Iris is quite hard sounding.
I am considering Lily, Poppy & Violet too.
I love flower names!

sorry but daisy always makes me think of cows.

Iris is nicer

jellybeans · 02/03/2010 11:17

Daisy is lovely, not keen on Iris, reminds me of eyes.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 02/03/2010 11:35

Sorry, I beg to differ - Iris is not hard, to my ears. I have a friend whose 18 month old is Iris. It doesn't sound hard, or too grown up for her.

Violet is nice, too

KAEKAE · 02/03/2010 20:34

I think Iris is okay I know a little girl and also a 40 year old called it...but I do prefer Daisy...it's softer, but so much more popular!

zozzle · 02/03/2010 22:53

Iris.

AllieW · 03/03/2010 17:51

Iris is wonderful. I would have been tempted to use it on a second girl were it not for the fact that DD1's name begins with I.

Daisy is a nickname for Margaret or Marguerite as far as I'm concerned and I don't think it would bode well for an adult wanting to go into a serious career. It belongs in the same space in my head in that respect to names like Poppy and Honey.

sassysass · 03/03/2010 18:07

Thanks again and keep 'em coming.

I'm now concerned that Daisy's too popular. It's quite high up in the top 100 but I don't know of many. Sod's Law they'll all come out the woodwork if I use it!

I really don't like Margaret although Margarette (however it's spelt) is quite cool.
