Luella

Oppinions please.

Baby due in 2 weeks, sex unknown. DH & I cannot agree on a girls name and before I toss this one at him, I'd like to know what you all think. It popped in to my head last night!

A Luella is just going to be nicknamed Cruella, it's unavoidable.

At face value, sounds lovely.

But, if I am honest, first part - Lu - ie. Loo (toliet) and all together, like Cruella as others have said.

I think it sounds a bit hillbilly and also too associated with the (although now defunct) fashion label. So no.

Lulu, yes. Ella, yes. Luella no.

yes i like this name too...i love Lulu as NN but dont really like Louise or Louisa so would be great alternative....doesn't make me think of the label but does sound like cruella but not enough to warrant it unusual.....hey if people can seriously consider Ursula even with the little mermaid then a name that just sounds like a villan should surely be ok???

For some reason it reminds me of Floella - I don't know if it was made up in the same fashion or if it's just because of the -ella suffix. I'm ambivalent about it, to be honest. Probably slightly more positive than negative, though.

I taught one with spelling Louella. She was lovely - very bright, with plenty of spirit.

I love it but I does remind me of a country and western type girl too, though there's the Welsh name Llewela which is pronounced the same but with the Welsh 'll' sound at the beginning.

I like it but it does make me think of Cruella.

What about Luana?
