Am hearing my potential baby's name around a lot these days and am worried by the time we get to June it'll be right up there in the top ten, which I wouldn't like.

Alfie or Archie.

Nice names both, but everywhere.

Also possibly Noah.

jellybeans · 21/02/2010 16:49

Alfie, Charlie or Archie

Wolfblass · 21/02/2010 20:48

Alfie
Charlie
Freddie
Issac
Zack

GhoulsAreLoud · 21/02/2010 20:52

Oliver, but I think that is in the top ten.

Oscar is getting v popular too.

StillCrazyAfterAllTheseYears · 21/02/2010 20:52

Around here

Alfie
Oscar
Joseph (Joe)
Joshua

dizzydixies · 21/02/2010 20:53

Lewis or Finlay up here

caen · 21/02/2010 20:53

Jack is a classic so and those tend to be the very top names, so Oliver (which is no.2 I think) or Sam, Joshua etc

Ziggurat · 21/02/2010 20:53

Alfie and Archie.

I really don't think Noah, Freddie, Isaac or Zack are anywhere near Jack's league...

Alfie
Freddie and Isaac are SO SO SO SO Popular around here it is untrue.

I personally can not understand why Jack is so popular

poppydaisy · 21/02/2010 21:28

Alfie, Archie, Charlie, Sam, Oscar are the ones I hear constantly....

HarrietHarpy · 21/02/2010 21:47

Sam
Oscar
Finn / Finley / Finlay etc

randomimposter · 21/02/2010 22:02

Finn
and I'm right cheesed off about it....

Heated · 21/02/2010 22:09

Based on no scientific evidence whatsoever but just based on a discussion with other expectant mums, Jack, and prior to that William, came from nowhere to the no 1 slot and we couldn't think of a (sensible) name on the periphery that is going to have the same impact.

Stalwarts for a long time are going to be:
Oliver
Joshua
Harry
James
William
Samuel
Isaac

Some thought Alfie & Archie will move down after a while, whilst George, Alexander, Oscar are going to hang around. Current rising star names are Reuben, Sebastian, Luca, Zack.

Henry, Edward, John, Arthur are going to be more popular than they are.

Trebuchet · 21/02/2010 22:16

Alfie, Charlie, Archie are top round here. Small village but 4 Archies, 4 Alfies and 6 Charlies under 5

MillyMollyMoo · 21/02/2010 22:16

Oh no it's been mentioned 4 times now

Pancakeflipper · 21/02/2010 22:20

I know it's like number 1 name - but I don't actually know any Jack's apart from my Grandpa ( and his proper name is John...).

I know many Georges, Sams, Charlies, Joshuas, Joes and Finn/Finlay's

Skegness · 21/02/2010 22:24

Is it Oscar, mmm? Definitely very very trendy at the moment.

mopsyflopsy · 22/02/2010 09:37

If you want to avoid a 'trendy' name, have a look at names currently outside the top 100. The ONS website lists ALL names given last year (several thousands!).

am really gutted about Issac being popular. grrr

not that i'm expecting but its been my fictional sons name ever since we were expecting dd2 7years ago!

displayuntilbestbefore · 22/02/2010 09:50

Lots of babes called Noah, Oliver, Aaron and Arthur where we live.

wildspinning · 22/02/2010 10:04

Oscar, Noah, Ethan and Finn have become popular fairly recently round here.

We have lots of Jacks, Joshuas, Sams, Olivers and Bens too.

All of these names will be around for some time to come I think!
