Hi mn's.Have ds called Ellis and expecting ds2.

This is hopefully our final list:
Kelly
Jesse
Antonio(Nino)
Rico
Rocco

I feel I can get away with Kelly for a boy as my fathers side is fully Irish.
I love so many Italian and Spanish names but don't know if I could get away with it-dh is English.

Thankyou for reading!

I have an Ellis too

hmm not too keen on any of then TBH,sorry!
but Jesse is the nicest IMO

mathanxiety · 17/02/2010 23:18

Not Kelly. The others are ok. Like Rocco for some reason. Have you thought of any other Irish names? It seems a bit odd to have Ellis, which is English, and then something Spanish or Italian if you have no Spanish or Italian heritage.

janeite · 17/02/2010 23:21

Ellis is a lovely name but I don't like any of the names on your list, sorry. Antonio is the best of them imho.

Taught a Kelly, he had a miserable time from other boys and was given some unkind nn. A lot of adults would ask him his first name thinking he'd supplied his surname.

Jesse goes best with Ellis but I'd be wary personally about using two unisex names for boys.

Rico if you have med ancestry.

shoobidoo · 18/02/2010 08:04

I like Antonio and Kelly the best.

I'm not keen on Jesse - it sounds very feminine to me.

mopsyflopsy · 18/02/2010 08:11

I know a 12 year old Kelly. Don't think he had any issues with his name. Lots of surnames have become first names.

I also like Rocco and Antonio.

I don't like Jesse as the nickname Jess is too close to Jessica.

CinderellaRach · 19/02/2010 09:10

Glad lots of you think Rocco is nice.Do you think it goes with Ellis?
Thankyou for all the helpful feedback!

If I saw Kelly written down I would presume it was a girl. Sorry

Antonio(Nino)- sounds a bit mismatch with a sibling called Ellis (not that sibsets have to match but it would strike me as an odd pairing). How about Anton?

Rico - as Antonio really.

Rocco - A bit celebrity.

Jesse - the best on your list. Ellis and Jesse work quite well together even tho they do sound quite 'essy' when said together. How about Jude?

dizzydixies · 19/02/2010 23:24

have you considered Dante or Raphael?

dizzydixies · 19/02/2010 23:24

or nico?

seeker · 19/02/2010 23:26

Are you Italian or Spanish?

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/02/2010 22:16

Jesse is a fab name. I'd use that (if my dh hadn't vetoed).

seeker · 21/02/2010 09:25

Jesse might be a fab name - but only if you are absolutely sure that at no time in your son's life is he ever going to live in Scotland, be employed by or employ a Scot, tell a Scot his name in the pub, want to phone a live Scottish radio station.........
