I think both these two names are v pretty. Was interested to hear the mn verdict on them.
Calla- means 'beautiful' in Greek plus Calla Lily
Cassia- I think this means cinnamon!

Many thx

I like Cassia. There is a Cassia in my dd's class. She is called Cass-ia or Cass.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 18/02/2010 08:04

Cassia comes from Kezia (hebrew pronunciation is like Ketz-ee-ah, which is a bark like cinnamon - it's mentioned in the Bible.

Very pretty and lots of nickname potential!

mopsyflopsy · 18/02/2010 08:08

I really like Cassia. Sounds very feminine and elegant.

Not keen Calla - sounds too much like Colour.

JoeyBettany · 18/02/2010 08:10

I really wanted Cassia for ds1 if he had been a girl. I think it's a spice.

I remember thinking it would have been a really nice name for a mixed race girl.

loobylu3 · 18/02/2010 08:39

Bella- thank you. I had no idea it came from Kezia.
Joey- our DCs are mixed race so I seem to be drawn to these slightly exotic type of names as they really suit them!

I live Cassia. Never heard it before, very pretty.

boodleboot · 18/02/2010 10:41

Cassia is gorgeous....i love Cass and also love the name Sia so its a great longer name to get this shortening from

mumoftoomany · 18/02/2010 10:48

Cassia is lovely for a girl. There is a little Cassia in my ds's nursery. She often gets called Cass. Very cute.

loobylu3 · 18/02/2010 18:21

I'm really surprised by the positive reception these names have received. Thanks a lot!

Cassia is lovely.

I prefer Callia to Calla. It was on my shortlist had DS been DD. I'd probably go with Calista as the full name with Callia/Calli/Call/Calla as NN options. Actually, thinking about it now Calista is right back on the shortlist for any future DDs!

loobylu3 · 19/02/2010 17:50

Thx lockets!
Cassius is lovely too!

I like both

I also like Callie (wasn't she in Blake's Seven ?)

loobylu3 · 20/02/2010 12:32

Jamie- haven't heard of Blake's seven but did a quick google search and there was a character called 'Cally'.

I am pleased that mn don't think that either names is 'made up' as this is one of my pet hates

looby - I am very old ...(Blake's Seven was a sci-fi series out in the late 1970s)

loobylu3 · 20/02/2010 19:25

Sorry Jamie!
Actually, I'm not really into sci-fi anyway
