What do you think of Emmie?

I love it but whenever people ask what names we have in mind for our dd and I say Emmie, people always seem to think I'm saying Amy.

No. Emma is nice though and you could always use Emmie as a nn, if you really wanted to.

I think it's a bit wet, sorry. Ok as a nickname but as a stand alone name, nah.

I have an Emmy- short for Emilia.
it is great, unusual but not weird.
Lots of famous Emmy's now
Aled Jones daughter is Emmy
The actress Emmy Rossum
Famous algebraic mathematician Emmy Noether

Never gets mistaken for Amy and best of all she is the only one in her school

my sister called her cat Emmy, after EmmyLou Harris...

Agree with the NN idea; something more substantial for when she becomes a JP.

My granny is emmie, short for emily.

It doesn't really stand on its own as a name, although a nice diminutive.

It's an OK baby name. Could be short for lots of nice longer names (Emmeline, Emma, Emily etc).

Emilia is lovely and makes Emmie acceptable, otherwise as a first name imo it's too twee.

I was nicknamed Emmy as a child, my nan still calls me it now! My name is Emmaline, have had lots of complements on my name all my life!

Baby in the family has just been named Emmie. I assumed it was short for something and they got offended.

My cousins wife is an Emmy in her 30's so it's a long standing proper name.

I like it as a nickname - but not as her 'real/full' name. I'd put Emmaline or Emily on her B/C.

Glad there have been lots of positive responses though would be interested to know why a couple of people think it's 'wet'? Surely Emmie is no different to other 'e' end sounding names like Sophie, Rosie, Chloe etc.

I really like the spelling Emmie, though it sounds like it's more common to spell it as Emmy. Jennifer Lopez spells the same name as Emme which I'm not so keen on.

I quite like it, my great granny was an Emmy. My middle name is Emma after her.

It's a cutesy, cutesy name. Good for a child. Just not sure it works for an adult, IMO.
