Not attractive imo. Also a nickname rather than a name in it's own right. Not one I like, I'm afraid. Personally.

Monty100 · 09/02/2010 23:46

Don't like.

I like Jodie though.

Joan is well......... and then to name a baby Joanie........

too tired to explain. But no.

juneybean · 09/02/2010 23:51

I think it's adorable!

shallishanti · 09/02/2010 23:52

no! no!
my auntie's name....she is 70!

motherlovebone · 10/02/2010 09:56

Joni better, like Joni Mitchell.

Love it.

Ziggurat · 10/02/2010 10:00

Ooh yes, Joni is better.

Otherwise - Joanie as a middle name?

2madboys · 10/02/2010 10:09

Happy Days. Chachi & Joanie?

Monty100 · 10/02/2010 10:30

Ooo, now Joni somehow is a different kettle of fish. I like that.

Blanchet · 10/02/2010 11:18

I like Joan and Joanie for short. Don't like the Joni spelling. I wonder if Joan will come back into fashion in the next couple of decades?

weegiemum · 10/02/2010 11:19

Joan is my MIL so I always associate it with trying-too-hard-to-stay-looking-young-and-not-really-succeeding sixty-something women!

Merrylegs · 10/02/2010 11:21

This'll put you off.. Fab song though!!

"Hello this is Joanie (The Telephone Answering Machine Song)"

Hello, this is Joanie
I'm sorry that I'm not home
But if you leave me your name and number
I promise soon as I get in I'll call

Joanie came over to my house last night
Drank a little too much red and we got into a fight
She said "I'm leaving" and I let her go alone
I felt so damn bad this morning I reached right for the phone
I called her right away
To beg her to forgive
The phone rang once, the phone rang twice
And then I heard her say

Hello, this is Joanie
I'm sorry that I'm not home
But if you leave me your name and number
I promise soon as I get in I'll call

"Joanie I'm sorry and I feeling all so small"
That was the message I left and I waited for her call
I waited with a sinking feeling in my heart
Not knowing if she forgive me was tearing me apart
I couldn't go on this way
I had to call again
The phone rang once, the phone rang twice
And then I heard her say

Hello, this is Joanie
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
I'm sorry that I'm not home
But if you leave me your name and number
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
I promise soon as I get in I'll call

My phone rang and my heart sang my baby's called at last
Instead it was a friend who said that Joanie's car had crashed
I never should have let her drive alone angry from my place
I'd never hold her again and kiss that funny face
But still there was a way to hear her voice
The phone rang once, the phone rang twice
And then I heard her say

Hello, this is Joanie
I'm sorry that I'm not home
I'm so sorry for me
If you leave me your name and number
I promise soon as I get in I'll call
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh

Hello, this is Joanie
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
I'm sorry that I'm not home
But if you leave me your name and number

My auntie's called Joan. We call her Joanie - I like it.
Joni - v cool aswell.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 10/02/2010 13:18

Joni - cool, although it is still a nn IMO

I also like Jody

thedollyridesout · 10/02/2010 13:33

Why do I know that song?

Prefer Joni to Joanie.

Not keen on Jody or Jodie.

Like Julia or Juliette .

mathanxiety · 10/02/2010 14:52

It's cool in a strange way. Nicer than Jodie, imo.

TeflonMum · 10/02/2010 14:54

Joni is lovely. Very cool.

tummytickler · 10/02/2010 21:39

Love Joan - Joan is on our 'agreed' list (of 5), and Joanie as a nn is adorable.
Don't like the Joni spelling though.
Also love Jean / Jeannie

LynetteScavo · 10/02/2010 21:42

I like it, and even thought of it for DD.

But moanie, Joanie?

Joni, is cooler.

Dozymare · 10/02/2010 21:45

Joni if you must....how about Joely (as in Richardson)

Flightattendant · 10/02/2010 21:48

I love it
Please please use it. I am considering having someone's lovechild just to use it myself...you have to.!

Amapoleon · 10/02/2010 21:51

Reminds me of Joanie and Chachi [sp] from Happy Days but that is probably just me showing my age

Me too Ama, good thing imo!!
it's just so sweet.

LittleDonkin · 10/02/2010 22:19

All the names I like seem to get mixed reactions but I guess if we all liked the same names it would be a boring world!!!! I like Joanie as my grandma is Joan and Joanie seems like a more modern version.
