My DP is being very difficult particular about choosing girls' names. He's vetoed pretty much every name I like for various reasons.

Basically I'm now looking for names that are

*classic but not posh
*unusual but not weird
*not too short (at least 5 letters)
*have options for nicknames

Anyone have a good suggestion, or does this perfect name not exist?

Thanks, great suggestions! Unfortunately I have a huge number of sisters and cousins who already have lots of the good names - Florence, Jessica, Elizabeth, Katherine are already taken.

Isobel and Mathilda have also been rejected for being too popular.

Beatrice is on the list though there have been discussions about whether or not it is posh. Theodore is on the boys list!

Francesca I hadn't considered but it might be a goer. Kirsten and Magdalena are going on the list too.

I love Rebecca - classic, but not many people using it at the moment, plus lots of shortened versions (much prefer Becca to Becky, though).

I really like Vivien / Vivienne / Vivian shortened to Vivi (as opposed to Viv)

Belinda/Melinda - Bel/Mel, Mindy, Melly, Linda, Lindy
Selena - Sel, Lena
Marianne - Mari, Anne

I had a whole more, but lost my post!

Hadn't thought of Corinna, thanks.

Love Josephine but my brother is called Joseph so not sure if it's too close.

Also love Rebecca but DP vetoed it for reasons I can't remember now.

Lots of good suggestions
