I really like it. For Ds2. But is it just tooooooooo poncey? We might be living in Brighton soon so that might help.

If mn says it's not poncey then I might be able to persuade dh .

I really like Cyrus! It sounds masculine and elegant to my ears. And there aren't loads of the around, so I'd say go for it!

But then, I don't get the whole British Chavvy/Posh thing.... but if anything, I'd say it sounds very elegant (i.e. the opposite of common/chavvy).

I love Cyrus, I had the same reaction when I proposed it on my baby name list

but then I also like Tyrone and was roundly slated for that too

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/02/2010 14:29

I think it's nice! Surely most people wouldn't assume you had decided to use your DS's name to honour a teenage american popstar? I used to know a Cyrus and thought it was a very regal name.

minipie I also think of Con Air.

Chav & trashy. Sorry!

AllieW · 12/02/2010 17:42

I think it's quite cool, although I have managed to avoid Hannah Montana so may be out of kilter with popular opinion. I think the abbreviation Cy is nice, too.

Actually, thinking about it, if you wanted something similar sounding without the HM connoitations you might consider Silas (as in Silas Marner).

Im reading this post a year after it was written... What did you call him? I think Cyrus is a great name:)

timetomove · 14/02/2011 23:47

Silas is similar in sound (at least with my accent) and much much better
