I already have a DS whose name begins with F and ends in 'ie'! So, not sure whether to have another 'ie' ending or keep it short and simple, or long and lovely. No idea if we're having a boy or girl.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Something fairly strong but not boring.

This is my list so far, what do you think?:

Polly
Lily
Allie
Ana (Anastasia)/Annie
Daisy
Libby
Olivia (Livvy)

Sam
Jasper
George
Ralph
Rory
Joseph
Robert
Evan
Vincent (Vinnie)
Reuben
Joel
Richie
Miles
Hugh
Fraser

Lily i love but VERY popular nowadays

I love Anastasia (Annie) and i love Libby

Not too keen on the others especially Allie and Olivia is far too popular

That's if popularity scares you?

As for boys

My ginger Tom is a Jasper, (but i do like the name)
My Dalmatian in Sam (Samson) (i loved Samuel but couldn't have two Sams!)
and my daughter is Georgia (George) BUT i love George for a boy

Jospeh i adore, but hate the nn's as with Robert

I love Vinnie, uber cool, i would have Vincent on the birth cert but use Vinnie

Reuben and Joel i love too

How about:
Sebastien
Gabriel or
Jesse?

Wolfblass · 07/02/2010 20:36

Sorry that should say Joseph not Jospeh (rolls eyes)

Thanks! I love Gabriel but DH isn't too keen - maybe I need to work on him a bit. Hadn't thought of the other two - will add to the list for our next names conversation!

Personally I think, for example, Frederick and suzannah, shortened to Freddie and Suzie would be fine. If their actual real names are Freddie and Suzie, or Frankie and Allie, I think this is a teeny bit odd sounding. But tbh I don't know that siblings names really have to 'match'. I love the sound of my 3 DCs names together, but I don't think it will be a big deal to them, especially in adulthood.

I do like your names lists, but I do prefer 'whole' names to shortened ones. So I'd go with Alice (allie), Margaret (Polly_ or Elizabeth (Libby) myself.

Of your boys I like Samuel, Jasper ok, George ok (but I think a lot around? - seems to be the 'ironic' old people's name of the moment?), not so keen on ralph Richie miles or fraser, but like joseph rueben (love) and hugh.

HTH Good luck

I have a Gabriel (10 months old, nn's are Gabe, Gabey, Gabri-woo and Mr Moo - (don't ask but rhymed with Gabri-woo, poor lad!)

It was actually my OH's choice, i vetoed it 6 years ago when pg with dd (Georgia), but HE loved it, and all his rugby mates think it is uber cool!

Girls wise how about

Annabel
Maisie
Cassie (Casandra)
Maddie (Madelaine)
Tabitha
Martha
Georgie or George (Georgia or Georgina)

and if only my OH would allow

Xanthia (or Xanthe)
