Hiya,

I am really starting to love this name but want to know for sure how to say it. I would say it how its written but its not Row-milly is it??

I love the nickname Romy too!

Thanks x

rom-illy i think

Littlefish · 02/02/2010 13:30

I agree with boodleboot - Rom to rhyme with Tom - illy.

becstarlitsea · 02/02/2010 13:33

Rom to rhyme with tom
Illy to rhyme with silly

Lovely name.

dd's best friend is called romi, maybe just call her that? rhymes with tony. lovely name.

TheMoreItSnows · 02/02/2010 13:38

I've got a Romilly and she's Rom (to rhyme with Tom) -illy (like silly). Doesn't ever get shortened to Romy though, don't know why....

matimum · 02/02/2010 13:45

Thanks I am really loving it!! Romi is pretty cool as a name on its own too but not sure if its a bit made up??

What do you think of Romilly Iris?

Love it! x

ruddynorah · 02/02/2010 15:37

not sure, her dad is dutch, maybe it's dutch being just romi? who knows, nice anyway

Prosecco · 02/02/2010 15:39

I think I would have pronounced it row-milly until corrected. Maybe depends where you live?

Prosecco · 02/02/2010 15:41

I also love the nickname and would indeed pronounce this row-mi.

Sorry if this is wrong.

There is a news reporter - BBC I think - called Romilly Weeks. Hers is pronounced as per the consensus above. I think it is a pretty name.
