What do you think of this, and if we use Joseph James will some people call him JJ?

Thanks ladies, you know there used to be a time when hearing the name made me near hysterical, it's almost funny that 8 years down the line I'm in a place I never thought I could be, and able to smile on hearing it.

Ghouls have we helped you decide on Joseph/JJ?

Wigglesworth · 02/02/2010 22:22

It's my DS's middle name, it's lovely and classic.

hairymelons · 02/02/2010 22:22

Great big, biased thumbs up from me to. It's a beautiful name.

Paperclipcollector · 02/02/2010 23:42

My eldest is Joseph and I love it. Now he's a teenager prefers to be called Joe. Like MrsWillis I decided way before I had kids if I had a boy that would be his name.

cheesesarnie · 02/02/2010 23:53

love joseph.
none of mine are called joseph but when ds2 was about 3 days old i said joseph instead of his name.the nurse said oh i thought his name was tom.i said it is and ten minutes later did the same thing.dh wondeered who i was on about,i kept doing it.....sorry waffling.

i need a fish called joseph.

Very nice name. Very popular at the moment - there are 6 Josephs in ds2's year group (6 out of 23 boys) so it's well used but maybe won't be so popular by the time your ds is born.

Tortington · 02/02/2010 23:55

i have one.

he is now called joe by all but me

shockers · 03/02/2010 00:05

Joseph is one of my very favourite names... my other two favourite names are those of DD and DS2

shockers · 03/02/2010 00:08

display... I think that's quite unusual.. there is only one in my school, one in DD's and none in DS2's. There are a few at DS1's uni though!

displayuntilbestbefore · 03/02/2010 00:12

I have always assumed it is one of those names that is forever popular because when ds1 started school, in a totally different part of the country, he also knew 4 Josephs in his preschool class alone!
I think it's a lovely name but having known so many Josephs it ruled it out for us tbh.

GhoulsAreLoud · 03/02/2010 08:30

THanks all, popularity doesn't bother me in the slightest - DD has a top ten name so it doesn't put me off.

I think we'll definitely go for Joseph James if we have a boy, find out 2 weeks tomorrow so if it's a girl I'll probably be back here again.

I have a Joseph John, and he's only ever been Joe to me.

my sister has a Jonathan James and he is a JJ, but that's what she wanted him to be, IYSWIM. I think it would be down to you what you wanted him to be known as.

Will check back to see what you're having!!

meoww · 03/02/2010 20:17

joseph is a good name
i'm actually struggling to find a name for my son who is due soon, because i already used my favourite name (joseph) for my older boy!

thesouthsbelle · 03/02/2010 20:20

I have a joseph paul.

Love it good strong solid name.

tbh rather than JP, DS is called JoeJoe or Joey (but usually JoeJoe.)

as I like to think - your child your choice, if you don't want him to be called JJ when he's a bit older then correct people, (but then i'm a bit anal on that lol)
