Daisy or Ruby

My daughter will be one of these. Which one, I don't know.

Help me to decide please.

PS I know they are both very popular but this does not concern me. I have a very unusual name and hated the fact when growing up.

Soooo many little Rubies around here at the moment, but I only know one Daisy.

I like both names but, on that basis, I would go with Daisy.

Daisy is a much, much prettier name than Ruby.

I would say though that it is possibly a bit 'little girlie' and she may not like it when she's a thirty year old human rights lawyer or whatever.

That being the case, could I suggest using Daisy as a nickname for Margaret?

I love Ruby (as does DH) and would definitely have used it if I didn't care about popularity... I avoided top ten names but that's just personal choice. Plus I had a boy. Anyway, it's a LOVELY name I reckon.

Daisy won't be twee with all the adult Poppies and girls named Lily.

Ruby is a hard name imo and very very popular.

Trouble is I know dogs with these names. All the popular girls names are very popular dogs name too. Daisy and Maisie are some of the most popular names for dogs!

Daisy is popular because its pretty and sort of classic like most flower names
Ruby is popular for trying to be fashionable, which it isn't anymore
