Was idly flicking through yesterday - noticed lots of the child models had unusual names - some of which I've spotted on here as suggestions over the years - and some I've nerve heard of before like Domitille....Also had a fair few standard popular names like Grace, Charlotte and Olivia....Got me wondering....

Well, I think Boden should top the list (for a boy, naturally)

PanicMode · 22/01/2010 13:36

I was hoping for inspiration among the names of the boys, but wasn't blown away by their originality or unique character!

thirtysomething · 22/01/2010 13:37

panic I think the trick would be to keep all their catalogues for your next baby-naming opportunity as they are quite variable-some are more full of fanciful names than others it seems....

Do they only pick children from certain social groups for their models then. Isn't a beautiful child just as likely to be called 'Chanelle'? I reckon they change their names to fit in with their image!

Bailey becomes Beau for instance.

thirtysomething · 22/01/2010 13:46

I once read that the models tend to be the children of friends of the Boden lot so draw your own conclusions...though I'm sure these days they must recruit from a slightly broader pool or it would always be the same faces....occasionally they have competitions to find new models....t

That used to be the case, but I'm pretty sure it's models all the way now.

Barbarellas · 22/01/2010 13:49

Ooh can you list the names?

I do remember flicking through an old catalogue, clocking the names and wondering whether they only choose middle-class models!

CaptainNancy · 22/01/2010 13:50

I did pause at Domitille I admit... but I am assuming it is french as many of there adult models are.

beagle101 · 22/01/2010 13:54

As far as I am aware they don't use models - no idea how they cast but my friend was at the beach about 18 months ago to meet a friend whose child was in a boden shoot - they asked if my friend's DS (12 months old) would like to be in the catalogue - she got paid in Boden vouchers as did the others at the photo shoot!

Jamieandhismagictorch · 22/01/2010 13:54

agree with Rollbauble- they change the names

PanicMode · 22/01/2010 13:58

Just typed the list and it dumped it when I tried to post....here is a selection!

Boys were River, Max, Charlie, Liam, Thomas, Cameron, Alfie

Girls - Kaya, Lisa, Michelle, Iona, Anna, Charlotte, Domitille, Grace

magbags · 22/01/2010 18:54

I always look at the names in the Boden catalogue, agree that sometimes they are nicer than others but a good source of potential inspiration I've found! I too paused and re-read Domitille. Still not sure how you would pronounce it tbh, even with my best French accent...

BunnyLebowski · 22/01/2010 18:57

I worked as an Au Pair in France when I was 17 and my 4 charges were

Domitille, Blanche, Priscille and Florian.

Gorgeous names.

Axe???
what kind of a name is that?

MamaVoo · 30/01/2010 19:10

I saw a Jonty when I was out and about the other day. I don't know why it pleased me so much that he was appallingly behaved...but it did

KateF · 30/01/2010 19:27

My friend's girls have both been in the Boden catalogue. They are Anna and Jessica, so fairly normal names .

MaggieTaSeFuar · 30/01/2010 21:11

well the adults' names are things like Hedda and Mette these days. Hard to buy into the English country rose garden dream when it's being peddled by Mette and Olga. Or is that being too pedantic!? I knwo they are an british co, and that is kind of central, especially with the UJ wallets!!
