My scrummy baby boy was born on tues night, I was decided on Arthur William but it does not suit him and his dad hates it!

Down to
Charlie (my fav but really popular??)
Matthew
Christopher
or something along these lines?

Love Daniel and James but already within the family.

My daughter's name is Carrie and double-barrel surname so shorter name best??

Help!!

I like Christopher the most out of those (can be shortened to Kit if you don't like Chris).

Lilyloo · 21/01/2010 21:32

What about Charles instead of Charlie then ?

Harry William
George William
Alfie William

DrivenToDistraction · 21/01/2010 21:35

Benjamin (Ben)?

DrivenToDistraction · 21/01/2010 21:36

Stan (or Stanley)?

Casper?

Washersaurus · 21/01/2010 21:38

Paul
David
Simon
Edward

Why not William?

DrivenToDistraction · 21/01/2010 21:39

Indeed! Why not William?

spookycharlotte121 · 21/01/2010 21:39

thomas william had a good ring to it. (my grandpa's name)

If you like james how about jamie as an alternative..... goes with william too! My ds is jamie... I wanted james but his dad said it was boring so we went for jamie as a slightly more modern alternative.

I do really like charlie too but then again being called charlotte i am biased!

spookycharlotte121 · 21/01/2010 21:40

Not very helpful, I know.

William is my dad's name so want as middle name. Ds half has half brothers Jamie and Thomas! I really like Charlie andwould put Charles on birth certificate but known as Charlie. It's very popular here, not as much as Archie/Alfie

Keep them coming!!!

Carrielou - congratulations first and foremost

Matthew is my fav and on our list

Thomas
Charlie is lovely and who cares if it is popular

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2010 22:38

Kester - the scottish version of Christopher?
Kester William sounds good.

5inthebed · 21/01/2010 22:45

Aaron William? I have one of those and goes so well together.

I do like Christopher and Matthew as well but think Matthew William sounds a bit odd with the two ws being close together.

hellymelly · 21/01/2010 22:49

Took us six weeks to name our second daughter so give yourself some time to choose!

shonaspurtle · 21/01/2010 22:50

Charlie is lovely, but is your daughter Caroline? Because that's basically the female version of Charles.

Not that it actually matters.

Carrie & Charlie? I think that sounds nice.

Washersaurus · 21/01/2010 22:52

I agree about Matthew William not being a good combination of names because of the W's.

Charles William is lovely; just go with what you like and what suits him, it matters not how popular it is.

I meant to throw Alexander in with my previous suggestions btw.

displayuntilbestbefore · 21/01/2010 22:55

Matthew is lovely, maybe Matthew Benjamin or would that be too long with a double barrelled surname?

CaptainNancy · 21/01/2010 22:58

Heheh- I also though "Arthur WIlliam, how lovely!"

What about Arlo?

so.. you like Kester?

derrymac · 21/01/2010 22:58

I like Charles william best, but Arthur is cute for little ones, not so sure when he grows up? But I think it's gonna get more popular. Charlie always makes me smile for some reason (Charlie Chaplin, Charlie Drake..) Arthur will probably get him more noticed and probably look better on his C.V.!

derrymac · 21/01/2010 23:06

Actually I'm not sure about Arthur now! No, scrap it - Charles IS a lovely name and I love Charlie. I also like George.

CelticStarlight · 21/01/2010 23:08

Congratulations on your new arrival!

Dunno if this makes any difference but there used to be a very famous set of dolls called Carrie & Christopher when I was little (70s). They were famous 'cause they had proper private bits unlike most dolls. Not that this has a huge amount of relevance but I would always think of them if someone told me their children were named those two names together - although the names themselves are lovely.
