"Darcey" query....

Hi everyone
Ever since I found out I was expecting me and OH have LOVED the name Darcey for a girl. However, looking through forums here and on other sites - it seems to have had a massive surge in popularity and now I am not so sure. OH is still keen but I hate the idea of DD being one of several when she gets to nursery/school etc. My current fave alternative is Romilly. My OH has a long French surname - Crouzieres. I think Romilly Rose Crouzieres sounds beautiful but OH is still leaning towards Darcey Elizabeth.
PLEASE HELP! Going round in circles here!!!!

Ally (33 + 5 with yellow bump)

ps - name we have so far for boy is Zachary Andrew. Opinions and/or alternatives appreciated!!!
xxxx

Darcey is definitely very popular and will date a DD. I think Romilly is gorgeous and there certainly won't be loads. That could be because I taught a lovely Romilly though.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 18/01/2010 20:13

I suspect you are right that Darcey will be a more common name, although not all that common.

On balance, I prefer Romilly, but both are nice.

Just a thought - what about Elodie ?

I'm not a huge fan of Zachary

Horton · 18/01/2010 20:23

Romilly is lovely. I don't really like either Darcey or Zachary, tbh.

DrivenToDistraction · 18/01/2010 20:28

How about a compromise? Romilly Elizabeth? Beautiful.

How about Solomon for a boy?

Hoorayhenrietta · 18/01/2010 20:37

Hi - I adore the name Romilly but was not allowed it with my 2nd DD as I had named our first DD (tsk!) I'm not keen on Darcey but like Dulcie...
Not keen on Zachary, sorry...my fave boy name of the moment is Hugo....

cakeywakey · 18/01/2010 20:44

I know two Darceys, so it is becoming more common. Rommily is lovely

allydennis · 18/01/2010 20:47

Mmmm - Hugo is very cute! And so is Elodie, Thanks for the honest opinions. Keep them coming...

Darcey just reminds me of old horsefaced kate garraway....i think it is a very of the moment name.....Romilly is really pretty, much prettier and Romilly Elizabeth is lovely....

Jamieandhismagictorch · 18/01/2010 20:58

My favourite boys names are Matthew, Patrick and Evan

mumtoted · 18/01/2010 21:02

Romilly is a gorgeous name.

LittlePushka · 18/01/2010 21:12

Totally agree with mumtoted (but perhaps I would as I have a ted myself!(Edmund)

SqueezyB · 19/01/2010 09:17

I know 2 Darceys, I think it is getting quite popular. Go with it if you like it though!

HinnyPet · 19/01/2010 22:06

Romilly Rose Crouzieres is totally beautiful! Stick with that!

beccagrace2 · 19/01/2010 22:17

romilly is lovely, romilly rose sound a bit like a boat so i would use romilly elizabeth, very classic.

theagedparent · 19/01/2010 22:21

I much prefer Romilly , especially after I heard Darce being shouted across the school playground the other day. Dulcie is also lovely.

shoobidoo · 19/01/2010 22:22

Romilly is beautiful. Feminine and elegant.

I'm afraid I don't like Darcey or Zac, both are also quite common.

HinnyPet · 19/01/2010 22:43

are you on bounty, OP?

KittyNotVengefulAnymore · 19/01/2010 22:46

My friend has a 3 week old DD called Darcey. I think it is increasing in popularity as I hear it a fair bit more that I did 5 years ago.

mathanxiety · 19/01/2010 22:52

I tend to think of it without the D; it just sounds wrong. Romilly is nicer, and Romy is even better, imo.

Coldhands · 21/01/2010 10:40

I love the name Darcey, especially when you put it with Elizabeth (another name I love).

I know Darcey is getting popular but I personally haven't heard anyone with the name. Don't like Romilly, it sound like a couple of names have been chopped and put together.

RnB · 21/01/2010 10:41

MUCH prefer Romilly to Darcey.

Goes beautifully with the surname too

Two4One · 21/01/2010 10:46

Blame Kate Garraway (GMTV) for the rise in popularity...

Lovely though - will always be the ballerina to me.

gettingtogrips · 21/01/2010 22:07

You can't have Darcey and Elizabeth together, not since Pride and Prejudice!!
