Zoe - nice (reminds me of a friend whose surname starts with Z, he called his DD Zoe)

Clara - lovely, very classic/elegant

Iris - ok

I love the bottom 3, especially Iris!

If I'm honest Ruth reminds me of when I was about and my stepmum had a friend that drank and smoked too much called Ruth and was a little strange so I just can't imagine a lovely little baby Ruth!

I meant to say "reminds me of when I was about 10!"

Clara I love. The rest are okay.

Ruth - Like it.
Zoe - Common, a bit nothing-y.
Clara - Ok but similar enough to Claire (the worlds most useless name) to be tainted.
Iris - Bit harsh sounding I think but not unpleasant,

Ruth - grownup, elegant, biblical - like it
Zoe - Ball - okay
Clara - Heidi - like it
Iris - old fashioned - nice.

Ruth- Not Keen

Zoe- Ermmmmm, But I know 2 and neither are very nice!

Ruth- a stern old woman.

Zoe- not keen at all, not classy and dated.

Clara- really lovely, classy and elagant.

Iris- quite nice.

Ruth - biblical; a grown up sort of name
Zoe - dislike it. Very 70s/80s.
Clara - lovely, feminine, classic.
Iris - Murdoch, but of late, it's become much more common

Zoe - pretty, short and sweet name, not too popular
Clara - classy, but becoming v popular I think

Clara is one of the most popular names in France at the moment. There are 5 in my daughters class. I love it.

Ruth is lovely. Clara and Iris are nice. I don't like Zoe.

Ruth - sensible, boring
Zoe - actress name
Clara - scottish
Iris - strong and independent - my favourite name of the four by far

Ruth - clever and sophisticated
Zoe - your mate
Clara - a bit haughty, likes ponies
Iris - parents who tried to be trendy

Ruth - like the name and know a nice Ruth
Zoe - not so keen, harsh sounding

Iris - trying a bit too hard. Nice enough name but, as cece says, getting bit too trendy

Ruth - Biblical, strong and classy. Ruthie for a baby is lovely
Zoe - Sweet - the president's daughter in the West Wing
Clara - Heidi - bit of a pain
Iris - the old lady in the upstair's flat

They are a nice set of choices.
Short -- you must like short names and dislike NNs.

Ruth - warm and intelligent
Zoe - zany, arty, pretty
Clara - bit simple, pretty
Iris - angular, neurotic, beautiful

Ruth - classic, no-nonsense name (for nonsense the useful nn Ruthie can be used )

Zoe - I always liked this as a child. Was jealous of girls with the name Zoe. Thought it was a cool name. One horrible Zoe ruined that for me though.

Clara - I think I like it. Certainly don't dislike it. It's too much like Cara to dislike and I love Cara.

Iris - don't like. The eye, Murdoch, a flower.
