OK, I know it shouldn't matter what first DC but..... DD1 is called Astrid and DC2 (gender unknown) due in a few weeks. Can't decide on possible names - boy or girl but especially girl! The Scandinavian connection is pretty weak so we don't want Ingrid or similar but I keep vetoing names with an obvious origin as might sound a bit confused- or perhaps am being over-sensitive! We have a fairly plain, 2 syllable, English surname. Please help!

Wow - loads of suggestions, thanks. I like Elsie but my SIL has DD of that name so I think Elsa is out, too. What do people think of Verity? And Aurelie? Or is a bad idea to have 2DC starting with the same letter? ( I knew a family who had 4 children and they - and their parents - all had names beginning with P. I found it a bit odd, tbh)

Love Astrid and Helena and Astrid and Eleanor

Aurelie is too like Orally -- Aurelia doesn't have this drawback.

Gosh Astrid's just a great name isn't it, goes with all sorts. Good choice.

Laurel?

mumatsea · 20/01/2010 17:02

Laurel - hadn't thought of that one. Will have to look up! fair point re. Aurelie/Aurelia. More suggestions all welcome! Thanks for these.

I've got a Verity - so obviously I love it! I also adore Saskia and Krista and think they'd go great with Astrid (which is a brilliant name!)

Boys I like Magnus, Fraser, Ivan and Soren.
