Charlie - short for anything else but Charles?

Love Charlie as a name, but irrationally dislike Charles (maybe the royalist link...). Can it be short for anything else?

Charlemagne

MamaLazarou · 12/01/2010 14:08

Daft question, but can't you just call him Charlie?

daneandalexgogogo · 12/01/2010 14:21

MamaL.... just have a thing about there being a more serious name behind the NN or shortened name... is Charlie a Nobel Prize Winner...?

Why can't a Charlie be a Nobel Prize Winner? What nonsense!

I love it personally on it's own.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 12/01/2010 18:47

I have a Charlie, who is Charles.

I didn't really like Charles at all, but wanted to give him a choice of a name with more "gravitas" later on.

Now I find Charles has really grown on me. DH calls him Charles on occasion, and Charlie himself likes the name, as he knows a grown-up Charles.

That's my thoughts, FWIW

(Charlton is awful)

pandavark · 12/01/2010 23:43

whats wrong with charles? its a proper mans name

blondiep14 · 18/01/2010 21:28

I have a Charlie. Not a Charles as I knew we would never call him Charles as I hate it!
