I quite like Sadie as a nn.

BUT...I do think the car associations will be too hard to shake off.

Not mad keen on the meaning either - can't see how it's relevent to a child born in 2010 (unless an angel paid you a mysterious night-time visit and now you're expecting a happy a happy event, I suppose).

And it's a bit Catholic for my tastes. Though obviously if you're Catholic then this will be a plus point.

I'm afraid for me this name is in the same realm as Chardonnay and sounds a little 'cheap'

It's a lovely name. The world needs more Mercedeses.

Um...there's a character on Hollyoaks called Mercedes. She gets called Mercy as a nn. (they are a catholic family)

And yes, I know it's not real life!
