I have my girl's name sorted but we're struggling on boys (I have two boys already):

Dexter
Hector
Jasper
Oscar

Dh's favourite is Oscar but it is the name of the son of someone I work closely with and don't like!

Hector .. like it but I know it will trigger reactions as too unusual?

Jasper ... quite like this one

Dexter... also like this one ... too American?

Jasper would be my fav. Hector is ok, so is oscar but am not keen on Dexter at all. Same as you, too American sounding.

I also like Casper, Herbert and Wilbur which I would put into the same category.

Hector is nice. Know lots of dogs called Oscar (sorry) though 2 boys I know named Oscar are lovely.

I like them all, though Dexter does sound a bit American, (Poindexter is used by Homer Simpson as a name for Milhouse when he can't remember his name -- generally means a bit of a twat in the US). Wilbur to me sounds a bit American. Plus there's the pig in Charlotte's Web.

I wouldn't mind anyone making remarks about Hector being unusual - what's so wrong with that?

Dexter is not as nice as the others on your list, I agree that it sounds American! I like Oscar. Jasper and Hector are nice too (if I was feeling brave).

I have Felix and Morgan (she's says outing herself!)

Felix I still love whilst slightly regret Morgan - many particularly in the US, assume him to be a her

Felix and Morgan are lovely and I wouldn't think Morgan is a girl. Definitely a US thing!

We had an almost identical shortlist for DS (minus Dexter)! We went for Hector in the end (just didn't think he looked much like an Oscar or Jasper).
