I know that we will go with the names that WE like rather than general consenus but I thought I'd run our possible name choices past you all to see what comes up...

So, the surname is two-syllables beginning with T.

If it's a boy: Lewis or Rudy
If it's a girl: Alice or Florence

Let me know what you think!

I like your girls names. Not so keen on the boys names - not what I would choose but not offensive iyswim.

emts · 05/01/2010 12:52

Boy: Lewis

Like both your girl names but would pick Florence as a little less popular.

havoc · 05/01/2010 12:52

You have really good taste! I really wanted to call DD Florence, but DH wouldn't let me. Its a pitty really as it would have really suited her. Rudy was on my shortlist for DS but again DH just went .

I love Lewis (I only know one) and Alice too.

LowLevelWhingeing · 05/01/2010 12:55

I'm sorry but Rudy makes me do a really childish snigger (as in Rude-y)

Thanks for your quick replies. It's nice to hear other opinions. We've not told anyone our name choices even though friends and family keep asking.

I knew there would be some rude-y sniggering so that's ok!

Lewis is really nice. Don't like Rudy.
I like both Alice and Florence, but Florence slightly better.

Tillyscoutsmum · 05/01/2010 13:12

Rudy was very nearly my ds;s name and if he had been a girl, he would probably have been Florence . Alice is sweet too. Not so keen on Lewis - just seems a bit trendy atm

happywheezer · 05/01/2010 13:14

I really like rudy, not keen on Lewis, too many naughty boys in my class with that name.
As for the girls names both are lovely!
Rudy is rather a cool name.
I had a teacher in art college who called her son Rudy after the specials song, for the line, "stop your messing around" sounds like a boy perfectly!

MrsJohnDeere · 05/01/2010 13:27

Like both girls names. Prefer Alice.

Boys names not my cup of tea.

havoc · 05/01/2010 13:28

I wanted to call DS Rudy after the Special song too! or Gene after Dexys 'Geno'

JaneiteIsTrite · 05/01/2010 13:28

I like Alice, Florence and Lewis but not Rudy. I have an Alice but Florence may be even nicer!

havoc · 05/01/2010 13:29

Specials not special!

Heated · 05/01/2010 13:31

Love your girls' names, you're on to a winner whatever you choose

Neither boys' names rock my boat, but on balance Lewis is nicer.

OrangeAnge · 05/01/2010 13:32

It's funny but I have been thinking about songs when choosing names! Maybe it's because I was named after a song myself.

A Message to You Rudy is a great song, but Alice (Who the is Alice) puts me off somewhat!)

Rudy or Alice for me

pointydig · 05/01/2010 15:51

Lewis and Alice

Bessie123 · 05/01/2010 15:53

I only like Florence out of the 4 in the op

gladders · 05/01/2010 15:54

like the girls names but not the boys ones -Rudy will just get LOADS of teasing - and lewis just not my cup of tea.

Hulababy · 05/01/2010 15:54

I love the name Florence.

Less keen on the boy;s names, but think Lewis is better than Rudy.

dizzydixies · 05/01/2010 15:55

we were going to use Reuben with nn Rudy if that helps?

angelene · 05/01/2010 16:03

I LOVE Florence. Really not keen on Alice - sounds rather sloaney to me (sorry to all the parents of Alices out there).

Lewis is great - quite popular here but I am in Wales!

sweetkitty · 05/01/2010 16:11

Lewis is lovely but v common up here in Scotland

Rudy don't like sorry

Alice and Florence - OK but don't float my boat if I were to chose then Florence nn Flossie

Mistletoesnowman · 05/01/2010 16:34

I like Rudy and Florence best.

Ondine · 05/01/2010 16:49

I prefer Lewis and Florence.

Rudy sounds like a nickname and 'Nudey Rudy' & 'Rudeboy' etc would put me off.
