Hi all,

Baby names are doing my head in so thought I would ask you for help!

I am 25 weeks pregnant and if have a boy we are ok for names, however if we have another girl I am so unsure. DD1 is Matilda.

Ok here a few I like, opinions please and other suggestions if you can think of any.

Xanthe
Heidi
Iris
Tegan
Tehya
Robyn

Do any of these go well with Matilda?

Thanks in advance

Yes Xanthe ( went to school with a very nice Xanthe ) and I like Iris.

Is Tegan rather overdone maybe ?

LaTrucha · 04/01/2010 15:11

I like Heidi and Iris.

CuppaTeaJanice · 04/01/2010 19:11

Xanthe - not even sure how to pronounce this
Heidi - very nice
Iris - like it but put off by Jude Law connection
Tegan - Reminds me of Australian soaps circa 1995
Tehya - strange spelling
Robyn - love this name but couldn't use it cos of odd aunt with same name.

Do you, or do you plan in the future to, shorten Matilda? For example, Tilly and Tehya, or Tilly and Tegan, is a bit of a mouthful. All the others go well I think.

PurpleEglu · 04/01/2010 19:19

Adore Xanthe, and think it will go nicely with Matilda (which I also love btw)

diddl · 04/01/2010 19:26

I think Xanthe from your list.
Also Like Harriet, Cecily, Eleanor.

overmydeadbody · 04/01/2010 19:31

Xanthe is best

PollyTechnique · 04/01/2010 19:33

I like Heidi and Iris.

pookabelle · 04/01/2010 19:36

Iris

JaneiteIsTrite · 04/01/2010 19:47

Iris or Heidi go best with Matilda, as they are more 'old fashioned' imho.

I don't like Tegan or Tehya and think they have a v different 'vibe' to Matilda.

Not fond of Robyn though don't dislike it as I do T & T.

Xanthe - a bit too 'hippy' for me.

PoppyIsApain · 04/01/2010 20:02

Robyn is the best IMO
Dont mind Heidi
How do you pronounce Xanthe?

I like Iris and Xanthe but much prefer Iris with Matilda as they are more similar in style. Really don't like the two names beginning with 'T'

avaj · 04/01/2010 21:07

I think Iris goes well with Matilda.
What about Thea for a T name?

thisisyesterday · 04/01/2010 21:12

i like Xanthe, Heidi, Iris and Robyn.

Skegness · 04/01/2010 21:18

I like Xanthe and Iris.

lamg · 04/01/2010 21:31

Xanthe is the most wonderful, amazing name. Please pick Xanthe. Beautiful in every way. Strong, historical, meaningful, unusual, cool and interesting. What's not to love about Xanthe.

telsa · 05/01/2010 00:09

Xanthe is really lovely. Heidi goes really well with Matilda - both Germanic names. Heidi is actually short for Adelheid or Adelaide - which also sound good with Matilda.

MamaLazarou · 05/01/2010 07:25

I like Heidi, Iris and Robyn from your list. Tegan is too Home-and-Away, and Tehya too weird.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 05/01/2010 07:40

You pronounce it zan thee

Well I would!

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/01/2010 08:13

Heidi is lovely.

What boys names have you picked (nosey)?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 05/01/2010 13:27

I have this wrong

that isn't right is it what i mean is you pronounce it
zan theeeeee with the th being soft not hard as in at the front of thank, not hard as in at the front of the.
