Hi all, so ds4 was born on the 30th before he arrived Noah and Zac were contenders but we wanted to wait and see what he looked like....

He arrived rather quickly - 20 min labour, delivered by his daddy at home! Hours before he was born we had been discussing names and had come up with Luca completely out of nowhere, the paramedic who arrived as he was being born was called Lucas - kind of spookyish.

So now we are completely struggling for a name, he does'nt look like a Noah or a Zac to me. I am thinking he is an Oscar but dp is adament we are not having that, dp is liking Luca I am but not totally in love with it am wondering if lucas is better?

Other ds's are

Joshua luke (Josh)
Joseph louis Alexander (Joe or Joe-Louis)
Oliver Jack (Olli)

So what do you all think? Am open to all suggestions!! Oh but think another J would be too much as dp's name starts with a J too.

Sol/Solomon

goes well with Lucas as a middle name.

Although DS2 gets shortened to Solly and that might not work with an Olli.

diddl · 01/01/2010 18:39

I´d be tempted to go with Lucas tbh.
Lucas Alexander?

Nevergoogle · 01/01/2010 18:40

I think Luca and Lucas are lovely and you haven't used too similar a first name for the others.

LymeBayToEbay · 01/01/2010 18:43

Lucas is nice but is getting more and more popular (as are Noah and Zac!). There's a reason for that obviously, is a lovely name and your other dc have pretty popular traditional names too so it would 'fit' iyswim. But you might not want that after all so is something to consider.

Do you like traditional classic names like William, Benjamin etc or something a little quirkier like Seth or Barnaby?

chimchar · 01/01/2010 18:43

daniel?
samuel?

i love the name luca fwiw!

Luca and Lucas are lovely names and it is a lovely story too.

You could go for Lucas and Luca could be a nickname?

RnB · 01/01/2010 18:50

Joe is lovely

verycherry · 01/01/2010 18:56

Thanks all, not too bothered about name being popular, as you say lyme the others all have pretty popular names.

I am leaning towards lucas but dp prefers luca...

Miles Luca/s
Linus
Henry
Isaac

What a fab story. 20 minutes

Ondine · 01/01/2010 19:12

I wouldn't be able to resist going with Luca or Lucas given the story.

Personally I prefer Luca but Lucas a bit more traditional and still very nice.

Lucas Zachary?
or
Luca Sebastian?

I'd go with Lucas...it's a nice name, goes well with your other sons names and there's a nice story with it.

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 01/01/2010 19:27

If ours was a boy (she's a girl due in a few weeks), we'd picked out Luca.

We also liked Lucas but Luca's nicer.

Please pick one of those two, they're fab and I'm not going to get to use them.

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 01/01/2010 19:27

Re-read... 20 minute labour?? What? Fantastic! You're a champ.

verycherry · 01/01/2010 19:41

Thanks totally I am feeling pretty proud of my 'efficient cervix and pelvis' (as midwife put it!)

My other boys were quick too, 90, 55 and 45 mins but this time went straight to pushing on first contraction it was actually fab. Will not be doing it again though, was at 02.20 so at home, could not begin to imagine if it happened during day or out and about....

Was booked for homebirth and all midwives on call were aware of my speediness and we were all prepared for me to deliver before any help arrived, was actually documented in my notes to call an ambulance at first sign! So I was'nt shocked at all, dp was a little perturbed though

I've got an Oliver and a Zachary. If we had another DS (which we're not!) he'd definitely be a Conrad.

Congratulations btw - 4 boys must be great!

verycherry · 01/01/2010 19:56

heated I like all those names! They have all been discussed, it is so hard to choose.

ondine I agree its hard to resist going with luca or lucas given the story as am bit of a believer in fate etc etc.

mrstc lovely names! Conrad is a good name too, my friends brother has just had a Conrad, their dd is Connie! I am just so over the moon with all my boys, looked at them all together last night and thought oh my god they are all mine!

Lucas is nice, not keen on Luca at all, like Zac and Noah also. Also like jake, Nathan, Joel, Harrison, Caleb, kieran, Riley, Sean, Ryan, Ross, Austin, Sam.

NotanOtter · 01/01/2010 22:02

rasputin Sean is gorgeous - so sweet and underused imo
great song too...

MollieO · 01/01/2010 22:08

Oscar. Would balance out the other names - 2 starting with J and then 2 with O.

NotanOtter · 01/01/2010 22:11

with your other names i would go for
James
William
Edward
Dominic
