Have I missed any awful connection?

I am english but live in Australia. Am pregnant with number 1.

Our surname is E V A N S so I am aware that there may be an Eastenders connection? (Or was that years ago?)

We were talking names last night - what do you think of the following, and have I missed anything awful in terms of our name being a blousy barmaid/serial killer?

Elizabeth
Francesca
Alexandra
Susannah

William
Thomas
Oliver
Alexander
Arthur

Plus any other suggestions in the same vein would be nice.

The only thing I would say is that with your surname people are going to add an /r/ sound to the last 3 girl's names eg Francescarevans. Up to you but it would bug me, as would the alternative of having to enunciate the two vowels v clearly.
Oliver and Alexander are ok because there really are rs there.

PixieOnaChristmasTree · 29/12/2009 15:07

I would also avoid names which end in 'a' because people will slur the two names together.

Have you tried getting someone with a local accent to say the names out loud so that you can tell what the name will sound like when teachers/friends say it?

I love all your name choices, by the way!

Ozziegirly · 29/12/2009 22:23

Thank you! Yes the ending in a thing is something I have thought about (as my name ends in an a), but so many of my fave names end that way so it's tricky!

Dizzycringles, funny, also on our list are Beatrice, Cecilia and I love Cordelia, Gabriel, Hugo and Hector.

I think closer to the time I will run them past someone with a strong Ozzie accent so I can hear how it sounds. I also have to factor in that all names out here are shortened or have an "O" added onto the end (Tommo, Davo etc)....

its pat evans who is on eastenders!

PoinsettiaBouquets · 30/12/2009 14:16

HOw about Cecille then?

Ozziegirly · 30/12/2009 23:03

I like it, but wonder if it will sound like Ceci Levans?

Um, your surname begins with a vowel - that applies to everything ending in a consonant!

Francescarevans
Susannahrevans
Alexandra Evans is the least annoying to say without putting an r after it (and it's beautiful!) i prefer the nn's you get with it too compared to the other choices, Alex and Lexy are better than Suzy or Lizzy imo.
