Tyler or Tylor?

i have seen tyler spelt tylor recently on a lot of baby name websites and i quite like it, but dont know if it is one that people will think i have made up/purposly mis-spelled to be different. in my opinion it is just much less common, but i thought this about another name that a lot of people disagreed with.

Really awful, sorry.

florence2511 · 28/12/2009 21:00

chavtastic!!

mankymummymoo · 28/12/2009 21:07

I dont like either - you might as well call him Painter or Plumber (but maybe I've had too much work done on my house in the past and am slightly skewed in my thinking!)

SixtyFootDoll · 28/12/2009 22:29

If you dont want to know others opinions dont ask for them.

jasper · 28/12/2009 22:35

Both dreadful. Tyler slightly less so.

Adair · 28/12/2009 22:37

Oh dear.

I like Tyler (would prob pronounce Tylor, as Ty-Lore). Some people won't.

Try not to take it to heart, people are v opinionated, and obviously we all have different tastes (am not keen on the Alfie/Rupert/Albie lot myself)

Am a little at the judgey stereotypes, personally am not that bothered whether my ds is a white van man and-we-are-not-too-far from Dagenham, so long as he is happy. so don't really care if you judge him accordingly on his name (not Tyler, but rhymes. And is more made-up ).

Congrats btw

piscesmoon · 28/12/2009 22:51

Both as bad as each other!

zozzle · 02/01/2010 22:41

Don't do either!

ChippingIn · 03/01/2010 04:12

I think if you choose that name then go with Tyler. To me, Tylor sounds like a medicine! (like Tylenol).

I think it's fair enough for people to say they don't like either - but I think it's rude to say they are 'horrible'.

Mummyto3plusbump · 03/01/2010 09:27

wow some people really are up their own arses - and have NO taste whatsoever!!

My son is called Tyler, tbh I dont like the other spelling as someone said previously it looks like a misspell of Taylor but if you like it then go for it.

Oh and just to let you know that my son is neither a chav or a staffy but a very cute, very bright little 18 month old boy! Ha!

BarbieLovesKen · 03/01/2010 18:38

Definately Tyler over Tylor

DuelingFanjo · 03/01/2010 18:39

It's Tyler.

lovechoc · 03/01/2010 18:41

don't like either, sorry

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/01/2010 18:43

at Mummyto3

mrsruffallo · 03/01/2010 18:46

The children I know called Tyler are lovely, bright things. Not a chav amongst them.
I like it too, although there appear to be many on MN who don't.
But then there are names that I really don't like, such as Callum.
It's fine OP, call the child whatever you like!

mrsruffallo · 03/01/2010 18:47

Also agree Tyler, not Tylor

scottishmummy · 03/01/2010 18:55

why on earth would you purposefully misspell name?do you want tylor having years of piss taking and mispronunciation.only to have to explain his mum finks it is exotic innit

Mshalfcut · 03/01/2010 18:58

You must of known most of Mn would hate the name Tyler now go choose yourself a nice old mans name

scottishmummy · 03/01/2010 18:59

dont hate tyler just dont get pesudo-wacky spellings

it isnt big
it isnt clever

puffling · 03/01/2010 19:02

Tyler and Madison

pranma · 03/01/2010 19:18

Do you really have to use either?

Disenchanted3 · 03/01/2010 19:21

How horrd, my nephew s called Tyler.

Why do people feel the need to be horrble?

scottishmummy · 03/01/2010 19:26

tbh why does anyone ask strangers opinion of name.

inevitably someone will rock up and say they don't like it,slag it off.humphy faces and how very dare you say that about my son etc

Disenchanted3 · 03/01/2010 19:40

In all honesty there are loads of names I loathe but I would never be so rude as to tell somebody considering that name for their child so.

scottishmummy · 03/01/2010 19:44

which is why name threads are a ruck.others dont hold back and pile in

but on the other hand dont ask if you only want affirmative answers...
