Ailsa, Imogen or Iona?

I'm due on Friday and don't even know if we're having a girl (posted here a few weeks ago for boy suggestions!) I can't decide between Ailsa, Imogen or Iona.

We're from Scotland and 'Ailsa' is from 'Ailsa Craig' a famous rock (and my DH's name). 'Iona' is a monestary island off Scotland and I just love Imogen although DH thinks its a bit poncy.

Middle name will be Grace as I want something serene and hopeful after having 2 mc last year.

DS is called Isaac...

I await your opinions .

Imogen!!!! Lovely name and lovely with Isaac. Don't know any Imogens round this way and know nothing of the pony club!

Ailsa was on my list but I had a ds, dh wanted Elinor.

I love Iona (can you tell from my nickname?
but Imogen is also very nice.
same as another poster, Ailsa reminds me of Ailsa from Home and Away.

I prefer Iona but I wouldn't want two I names so I'd go with Ailsa.

WinkyWinkola · 16/12/2009 21:21

Imogen. Stylish and elegant.

The other two just make me think of old, tweedy ladies.

I love Iona Blue think it's gorgeous. I'd love to use it but withmy surname it's never going to work.

"Iona Hill"

Hope you manage to choose one soon- talk later

Hi blue
I love all 3 names, but tend to agree that same initial as your ds might be weird... if you had another dc you'd have to come up with an 'i' name maybe
So I'd choose Ailsa, which I think is beautiful by the way! (I know two sisters called Iona and Ailsa in fact!)

Ooh, Lorna is beautiful too as someone else suggested...but don't want to confuse you further

Finona · 17/12/2009 22:55

Hi Blue, I like Ailsa best - we thought about that for DD, but decided to go the Nordic route instead....but I do love the other 2 choices too! Imogen is probably the least used of the 3, certainly round these parts.
BTW, of your boys names, I preferred Benjamin to Samuel, simply because if they get shortened, I think Ben goes better with your surname than Sam does!
Good luck - look forward to hearing the news and pics on the other forum

I like Imogen and Iona.

I love the name Ailsa, I like Iona but not so keen on Imogen, think it's cos it gets shortened to Immie which is so wet. I prefer Megan to Imogen, same kind of sound?
but anyway go for Ailsa
