Would this put you off?

Name would be Barnaby Edward G.....

BEG wouldn't put me off half as much as calling a baby "Barnaby", sorry. (It's purely personal, but reminds me of "barnacle") But it's your choice, and your thread languished in "unanswered" for so long...

repeats the word "sorry" and goes to bed

I think BEG is fine.

My initials spell something. Never been an issue. In fact I quite like it.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 16/12/2009 03:59

DS1's initials don't spell anything, DS2's do. It's never been a problem.

NancyDrewRocks · 16/12/2009 06:45

Would put me off a little I'm afraid....

I wouldn´t .

MamaLazarou · 16/12/2009 12:33

I don't see the problem. Barnaby's a cute name, btw.

LaDiDaDi · 16/12/2009 13:08

Thanks for your thought, we are so undecided it's ridiculous, especially as I'm having him on the 21st if not sooner!

BEG is fine.

I would only change names if they spelt out a 'bad' word like COK or ARS or FUK or something or if the first two initials plus the surname had mickey taking potential (thinks back to when friend was considering calling baby Amy Slack-Bird!)

My DS is APL which I think is rather cute

And I know a 30-odd year old GEM who named his son RAM so he can't have been too bothered about his initials being a word!

Barnaby Edward is lovely - go with it

hulabula · 16/12/2009 14:47

Can't see ANYTHING wrong with the initials B.E.G.! Really, don't see a problem there.

Barnaby is gorgeous - great choice!

hulabula · 16/12/2009 14:49

My sister is M.A.D but she has never really been bothered by it. You rarely see all initials together anyway.

My ds is QCD and my dd is ASD - hadn't really given these any thoughts up to now, to be honest.

Ondine · 16/12/2009 14:49

I wouldn't like my intials to be BEG so i'd have to say no.

Can't you add a third middle name?

happymerrychristmas · 16/12/2009 17:19

Nothing wrong with B.E.G. imo.

Agree that unless it spells something bad or ridiculous, I really wouldn't worry.

Love Barnaby!

I think it's fine. You rarely see the initials written together anyway. Nice name - I like Barnaby!
