What's the mumsnet consensus on this then?

DP's colleague has just had a baby called Lexxi, not short for anything, just Lexxi.

Friends are polarised - some love the name with a passion, some think it is beyond the pale.

(she is not on MN btw, she is a bounty girl, presumably she thinks MN is full of itches)

I quite like Lexi/Lexie as a shortened nn for Alexandra but spelling it with two x's just makes me think the parents really just are not very clever.

They may think it makes their daughter's name more unusual/unique but it makes me think they are a bit thick

I don't like it with the double X but Lexi is nice!

My dd is called Alexa, and does get Lexie a lot. I much, much prefer Alexa to Lexie. I do, however prefer Lexie to Alexia, Alexi, and Alexis, which some members of dh's family still call her. After 2.5 years!

I cannot stand Amanda Holden either. But I love the name Alexa, obviously.

Lexxi? Not so much.
