Which do you prefer? We are a little stuck.

I heart Meadow! (The name not the character jollster .

Naomi is boring and very out of date.

MintyCandyCane · 01/12/2009 18:17

Naomi

loobylu3 · 01/12/2009 18:18

Naomi- v pretty. Not a fan of Meadow I'm afraid.

heartofgold · 01/12/2009 18:20

agree meadow = hippies or gangsters

BellaBear · 01/12/2009 18:21

Naomi

5inthesleighbed · 01/12/2009 18:21

I love Naomi. If I ever had a daughter, that would be her name.

I'd only use Meadow if she was conceived in one ;)

dizzydixies · 01/12/2009 18:41

Naomi for me too

have you considered Meredith or Merrin? I love both of those

grumpypants · 01/12/2009 18:44

Meadow doesn't even sound pretty when you say it. Celery sounds nicer. Naomi like Nay - omi or Nioami - nye - omi. My friend is a Na but always gets called Nyeomi.

unfitmother · 01/12/2009 18:45

Naomi!

IckleJess · 01/12/2009 18:49

I think Meadow sounds lovely for a little girl, esp a newborn and up to about the age of 6 but it doesn't suit for an older child or heaven forbid a stroppy teenager!

Naomi gets my vote

MadameDuBain · 01/12/2009 18:50

rofl @ Celery. Only a matter of time surely...

Naomi has well and truly had it's day

Meadow, whilst very pretty would always be a Soprano reference. What about Willow?

charleeplum · 01/12/2009 18:58

thanks for all your replies, some of them really made us laugh!

We are Sopranos fans so that's where the name Meadow came from originally.

Im thinking about going for Naomi now... I just needed a little convincing! x

Naomi - definitely. I like Summer as a girl's name but Meadow is going too far in my opinion.

Bimbledorf · 02/12/2009 20:43

Meadow - it's my daughters name. I personally (obviously) love it. She gets called Med for short...what's wrong with that? At least it's a bit of a different name with (mostly) lovely connotations.
Naomi is nice enough but there are sooooooo many naomis in the world already.

Vivia · 02/12/2009 21:45

Naomi

JaneiteMightBite · 02/12/2009 21:54

I have a Naomi and she is lovely. It is a pretty and classic name but not overly popular right now.

piscesmoon · 02/12/2009 22:08

Naomi. I didn't realise that Meadow was a name. (If it is then it is best ignored!)

RedSkyInTheMorning · 03/12/2009 00:35

Naomi - Meadow is just stupid. Naomi is a beautiful Hebrew name meaning 'The Pleasant One' - I love it.

bellissima · 03/12/2009 10:17

Doesn't Sharon mean meadow in Hebrew? (NB anyone who knows a lot better than me feel free to correct)

sunshinejanuary · 03/12/2009 10:23

I love Naomi - it is my sisters name but please be aware, throughout her life she gets called 'Na' or even 'Gnome' - Lord knows why but lots of different times it has been shortened to Gnome!

ShowOfHands · 03/12/2009 10:31

Meadow's lovely but like dizzydixies, I was going to suggest Meredith or Merryn as similar but less hippyish.

Naomi I find a bit Sarah like. You know, it's a name, a fine one, but just unremarkable. Jane, Linda etc. Not beautiful but acceptable.

RnB · 03/12/2009 10:34

I'm a Naomi, have never been a fan of it, but it's sooo much better than Meadow.

Nice to see so many people like Naomi

cumbria81 · 03/12/2009 11:03

I really dislike the name Naomi (sorry RnB) but would rather name every girl ever born Naomi than Meadow.
