Cross-cultural names

Am lost for boys' names if DC3 is one! We are Scottish and DP has an Italian surname and the only names I kind of vaguely like are Scottish, but would this be too extreme:

Hamish Lombardi
Angus Mancini
Seamus Esposito (yes, I know it's Irish!)

Sorry, not giving away the actual name but you get the picture ... do you think this is just OTT?? Or should names like these be perfectly acceptable in the cosmopolitan world of today ...??

The names you have are really nice, but they make the surname stand out that bit more, imo. TBH, I would opt for names that have more international appeal. Thinking of Roman, Oscar, Alexander...

I think it depends on what the name sounds like. Roll it around. Say it. Does it sound comical? or does it reflect who he is?

Eg, Angus Mancini sounds good, because Mancini sounds quite 'familiar' even for a foreign name. Not like, I don't know, sciorra, where you mgiht have to ask how it's pronounced. Also, Angus less foreign-sounding to the vast majority of people than Hamish or seamus, so altogether, it's less of a 'combination'.

My Mum is a very Irish name+very English name... think along the lines of Clodagh Winchester. She is the only one. Email, faceboook (not that she's on it!) but there's no chance a bank is every going to say, ah, your cheque book? we sent that to the other Clodagh Winchester....

My DD is Flora and she has a hyphenated surname with DP's very Jewish surname first. Her name combination is unique very unusual

Does it have to be a very scottish sounding name? Why not go for a traditional/saints name (Andrew, Alexander, Thomas, George...) that can sound ok in english or italian (ie Tommaso/Thomas can be Tommy in both).

We'll be combining Scottish and Hebrew - and yes, it probably will sound a bit odd, e.g., Hamish Gideon for example , but - it's personal, it's special for us and who gives a fuck? How many times will your child introduce himself as "Vienetta, Hamish Marcello Vienetta". It only sounds a teeny bit poncey when you say it all together...
