I wanted something meaningful to when my dc was conceived, do you think absinthe is suitable for a girl or a boy?

buckfast is a lovely name
or eldorado
so evocative of bampots and swally

I teach a Gilbert; his mother phones the school weekly. I've always wanted to ask, "Named after the gin?"

BrokenArm · 20/11/2009 19:51

House Wine, Cheap Champagne, Virgin Special Case and er... Too Legless to Remember.

MaggiePie · 20/11/2009 20:24

ginevra.

I'm drinking a home fixed g&t now. REALLY enjoying it. what's a pub measure these days?

Teapot13 · 21/11/2009 06:46

I think there's not much to add here to what other posters have said in terms of the actual name suggestion.

The other thing to consider is, even if the alcohol in question lends itself to a normal namelike Gilbertdo you want people to know this? It seems like a very personal thing to me. The child will DEFINITELY not want to know what you and the father were drinking!

I think Buckfast is a wonderful strong name for a boy. He could be Buck for short.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 21/11/2009 07:16

dh would deffo approve of buckfast, he is a big fan.

It's good, isn't it? And Bucky's cute for a baby.

Bellini is a boy's name, surely? -i is a male plural ending in Italian. One Bellino, two Bellini.

LastTrainToNowhere · 21/11/2009 16:12

I work with a girl called Sherry. No, not Cherie (I checked). Her name is actually spelled like the drink

seeker · 21/11/2009 16:30

I wasn't serious either, dandylioness!

I think these names that you're all coming up with are awful. Have some class, people!!

If our baby is a girl she'll be Maelly-boo, and if it's a boy, he'll be St'rong-beau. Beautiful!

muminthemiddle · 21/11/2009 17:42

I quite like the idea of a Babycham or Snowball or even a Pernoid.

MrsWillis · 23/11/2009 22:46

There was a young girl of about 7 at the park when we were on holiday called Tequila. Seriously. Her dad even had it tattooed up his arm.
