Names to match "colour" surnames

Help! Our surname is Green and that has ruled out so many of my favourite names. Below are some examples (but not necessarily names I actually like)

Eva Green (evergreen)
Amber Green (traffic lights)
Jade Green
Scarlett Green (two colours together)

Anything flora related (thinks it's a wierd combo): Poppy, Lily, Willow, Forest

Similarly, Jet Black and Amber Orange would be strange names.

Anyone got any good ideas to go with Green (first child)?

Bad choice colour name stories also welcome!

Avoid Theresa too

Tidey · 14/11/2009 19:05

When I was very young we had a neighbour called Theresa, and for years I thought her surname was Green because that's what my Dad always called her. It wasn't really, obviously. But it would be an unfortunate combination.

LOL BoF, X post

bluebump · 14/11/2009 19:07

My auntie when she married into our family became Teresa Green - quite amusing if you say it in a certain way!

bluebump · 14/11/2009 19:08

I am a slow typist today! I see mine was already covered!!

hollyhobbie · 14/11/2009 19:08

I used to know a Matt Green!

(sorry not much help for you though)

CurlyCasper · 14/11/2009 19:09

Actually we do have a Teresa in the family - Green by marriage. She goes by a nickname!

ChilloHippi · 14/11/2009 19:10

Annabel Green sounds nice.

DD has two 'colour' names, our surname is a flower name as well as a colour. The fact that I didn't realise it till she was reading Paula Danziger's book 'Amber Brown is not a crayon' probably means it's not really a problem.

Tidey · 14/11/2009 19:11

Ivy Green or Hazel Brown?

CurlyCasper · 14/11/2009 19:13

I love the name Amber, but think Amber Green would spend her life being asked where red is!

BitOfFun · 14/11/2009 19:13

Lily White

Jet Black

Ashley Gray

There was a boy at school called Scott Green who was known to some as "snot's green" - hope he's not your DP!

MaggiePie · 14/11/2009 19:28

Phoebe Green
Lydia Green
Juliet Green
Beatrice Green
Annabel Green
Florence Green
Marianne Green
Susannah Green
Elizabeth Green
Penelope Green
Eloise Green

I think 3 syllables works well with sur name Green.

MyMyKindofaGirl · 15/11/2009 17:08

I think you should probably also avoid names beginning with P...

BettyButterknife · 15/11/2009 18:23

I know a family with DC Emily and Jack Green..

Would avoid Violet.

nearlythereyet · 15/11/2009 19:03
