My DH really wants this name if DC3 and last is a boy. I had my way with DS and I like the name but it seems too grown up a name for a baby. Am I nuts?

It was our chosen name if DD had been a boy so been on the table for years

well - I like it,but then I chose it myself! DS has one other Robert in his primary school class - perhaps we are trendsetters?

he got to be called "Bob the bump" all through my pregnancy - I knew it was going to be a boy....

Great name, no fuss, no trendy overtones, just a good manly name.

DS (8) is Robert. He started off life as Robbie, but now wants to be called Robert. Its a lovely name, and it was also my dad's name (he was Bob), but then I'm biased!

branflake81 · 06/11/2009 14:57

well he's going to be an adult far longer than he will be a baby/child so you really should be giving him an adult's name!

I like it!

Mkaes a change from William, Edward, George.. all the classic names.

I like classic names which aren't quite so of the moment.

Bobbie is trendy. Robbie is cute.

I can't picture a Robbie not being nice.

my favourite nephew is called Robert but we call him Bobby McQueen,he's GORGEOUS and the name only has good connotations with me

stressheaderic · 10/11/2009 20:49

I absolutely love Robert, for all the reasons mentioned above, but my cousin is Robert so I suspect it's off the list...

Any other similar due-a-comeback names you can think of?
Not too keen on Simon or Ian or Kevin (which I was going to be if I was a boy apparently .

mrleebob · 10/11/2009 21:03

Robert is the bob in leebob! It's a great name just for that fact. Plus, it sounds a bit like robot.

twolittlekings · 10/11/2009 21:06

I like it - it is one of my DS2's middle names. It's a good Scottish name as well (not sure if that matters)

muminthemiddle · 11/11/2009 23:16

I agree with feedthegoat.

A good choice.

mathanxiety · 12/11/2009 19:45

Very nice, will last a lifetime.

Wolfcub · 12/11/2009 19:50

It's great, it's ds's middle name and dp's brother's name

Blackduck · 12/11/2009 19:55

I have fond memories of a Robert....

lilibet · 12/11/2009 19:58

Oh yes, lovely name.

Rob/Robbie are both good as well.
