It really isn't an exciting name.
My 2 dc's have a their dad's name which is a common scottish name with a dfferent spelling so gave them nice simple I suppose quite traditional names.

This time I can see me and dh not agreeing on it he likes quite (what I think) are dull names and with our surname they just sound well dull.
ANy ideas for simple/traditional but not boring.

I like names such as:

Edward - nn Ned
Charles - nn Charlie
Harry
William
Samuel
Jacob

etc.

I love Samuel and william, that is ds middle name actually. Dh likes Sam but not keen on Samuel told him he could use the short version if we picked it but i'd want his name to actually be Samuel.
Edward/Ned now I never even thought of that I like it.

I do like chralie but well I can't use it he would be Charlie Brown

Joseph

Hulababy · 03/11/2009 22:05

DD would have been Oliver Joseph. I love Joseph - can't use t as we would have had a Joe-King which is not good for a name!

Hulababy · 03/11/2009 22:06

I also like Arthur

You have suggested some names that I really love and dh has already turned his nose up at yet he hasn't suggested anything better.
I have always loved Angus, never though of AListair but I like it.
Jelly has suggested some names I really like.
These are all the kind of names I like actually and none of them sound bad with our last name.

Richard/Richie
Donald
Dominic
Marcus
Victor
Howard/Howie

I like all of those, classic, not boring imo

Instead of Angus, suggest Fergus to your husband?

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 04/11/2009 09:03

I have suggested Fergus it was met with
The reason being is it is the first half of my own dc's last name so he thought it would be a bit odd although he is not presious about it being close to ex's surname.
