What do you think of Lerryn

for a GIRL?

we live in cornwall, my hubby is cornish and we wanted a cornish name that a) was not too popular - loads of morwenna's, lowennas, karenzas, tegans etc. here and also b) was not too crazy or outlandish.

we do like steren (meaning star) but im worried it will condemn the poor girl to spelling out her name to everyone for her whole life.

lerryn is said exactly as written and its quite pretty. im thinking it will shorten to "ren".

what do you all think? please be honest

IMHO Steren is prettier and easier to spell

I'm sorry but it's rather muted. Ren as a nn is pretty though.

i'm sorry... just markes me think or laryngytus (sp?)

It sounds like a boy's name to me - not sure why!

Steren is pronounced as it's said, isn't it? Why not go for that? It's lovely.

Hmm sounds/looks a bit like an anagram...Nyrrel is better!

Is it a 'real' name? ie used before?

Horsiemummy · 01/11/2009 15:26

thanks for the input girls. i know you can ask your frends but here i can get HONEST answers.

seren is lovley (welsh for star according to google) but my cornish hubby may well object to a welsh name.

I thought boy too...

steren reminds me of steri-strips

Seren/Sennen both v nice.

it is a real name - its a place in cornwall. we thought about it as a girl i went to college with had the name.

surprised so many like Steren - do you not think it sounds a little harsh? seren is a bit softer and gentler sounding - or maybe thats just me - lol.
