Penthe raising the tone here from Angela's Ashes

Ialin - aaah. So it is already losing its Children of the Corn relationship with the 'younger' parents for want of a better word, and becoming 'trendy' . So, possibly, one half of the population will run away from him and the other half will consider him popular/common as he grows up?

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 30/10/2009 20:56

...and then the odd few who looked it up on wiki are culturally well read and will nod wisely and apprivingly

My good friend would like a Malachi if she has a boy next. Personally, I dislike it and she told me that most people she ahs told dislike the name also. But, as she said (and I whole heartedly agree), your child your choice

PhoenixFirefly · 31/10/2009 00:09

I like it malachi (eye not ee) is DS's middle name

serenity · 31/10/2009 00:41

There's two Malachi's in DD's class at school, althnough one spells it Malaki. It's very sweet.

LetThereBeRock · 31/10/2009 00:49

Awful. I think it's ugly and it reminds me of Children Of The Corn.

DrSkidaddle · 31/10/2009 20:57

yes really like it - am trying to persuade DH to call our next baby Malachy but he is more of the Tadgh/Cillian/Dara disposition (i.e 'proper' Irish!)

Prefer the Mal-ak-eye pronunciation but both are nice

Giltz · 31/10/2009 21:50

Love the name

TheTerribleSpider · 31/10/2009 22:28

I really like Malachy...

scottishmummy · 31/10/2009 22:43

yes but spell it properly malachy

scottishmummy · 31/10/2009 22:48

whaT is corn children?

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 31/10/2009 22:58

Scottishmummy Malachi is the correct spelling - he was a prophet and a saint - means 'my messenger' or 'my angel'. It can be spelt Malachy also and is within the catholic church, i beleive, but the original Hebrew spelling is with 'i'.

Children of the Corn is a very scary nightmarey horror film by Stephen King.

And i have just googled some pictures and I have seen it, i was very young and I remember the scarey image of a house on the edge of a corn field. I remember having nightmares about not escaping! I do not recall much about it other than terrifying and luckily NOT the name Malachi
