some FoF's have named their 3rd son Harpo-i think it's really really tight and the other 2 got off lightly!
is it just me?

i thinkk it's a cool name.
waht does "tight" mean in this context?

is this one of those, "let's all slag off someone;'s newborn baby" threads? if so i'm off

defineme · 27/10/2009 23:44

What does 'tight' mean- do you mean you don't like it? If they admire Harpo Marx then I can see why they did it-my ds's are named after men I admired. It's very unusual in this country.

thesecondcocking · 27/10/2009 23:47

tight is a northern word meaning 'a bit mean' i don't think i am slagging off someones newborn baby-i am sure he's a nice baby but it's a bit 'out there' isn't it?

sargentpooper · 28/10/2009 00:26

Erm...it's a bit of an odd one. What are their other sons called???

AnyGhoulKno · 28/10/2009 00:27

can he play the harp?

AnyGhoulKno · 28/10/2009 00:27

thesecondcocking · 28/10/2009 00:42

I thought tight meant ungenerous ( with money, usually) in northernspeak, rather than unkind. I must've been away too long.
( sorry to hijack thread).

I thought ' toilet cleaner' when I saw the name but that was Harpic, wasn't it? No similarity

mathanxiety · 28/10/2009 03:40

Up with sick child, made me think of Groucho.

tinkerbellesmuse · 28/10/2009 04:14

Isn't that the name of Oprah's production company/charidee/world domination programme?

nooka · 28/10/2009 05:24

Well each to their own, but I can't help but think "poor sprog"

Tambajam · 28/10/2009 06:04

I immediately think of Oprah too but it's not a terrible name.

thighsmadeofcheddar · 28/10/2009 07:14

It's Oprah spelt backwards.

diddl · 28/10/2009 09:17

What do you mean by "it´s already been done"?

Made me thinkof Harpo Marx-isn´t it a nickname?

Scorpette · 28/10/2009 09:42

Harpo was a pathetic wife-beater in The Colour Purple (the husband of the character who Oprah played in the film, interestingly). It's not a bad name, per se, but it did make me think of that link immediately.

AnyGhoulKno · 28/10/2009 12:07

yes diddl it was a nickname cos he played the harp

frazzledoldbag · 28/10/2009 13:29

I like it. And I like the other 2 kids names too. Oscar, Monty and Harpo sounds fine to me......
